POSITION SUMMARY: SEAMAAC&rsquo;s Truancy Case Management (TCM) program works in partnership with Philadelphia&rsquo;s Department of Human Services (DHS) and School District of Philadelphia to improve school attendance and academic achievement through three tiers of services. Services focus on early interventions through school office hours, home-based case management and court representation, and case transitions to Family Court, with economically, politically and socially marginalized children, youth and families, who are at risk of being pushed into involvement with DHS systems. Although our TCM Program serves communities of all races and ethnicities, the majority of referrals we receive from SDP and DHS are for children and families from the African American community. The Lead Truancy Case Manager (LCM) will serve as a liaison between the TCM admin team and new hires. The LCM will train new hires for the first three (3) months after start dates of employment. Training packets for new hires must be provided, thoroughly reviewed, all tasks completed, and submitted to direct Supervisor of new hire. The LCM will demonstrate a mastery proficiency in TCM program standards and responsibilities. The LCM will perform all three tiers of services and carry a maximum caseload of 20 families at any time and up to 35 families during extenuating circumstances with high program referral rates. LCMs work in a fast-pace and high-pressure environment, handling multiple and simultaneous priorities, balancing the needs of families, requirements from funders and adherence to tight schedules and strict deadlines. The program&rsquo;s goal is to increase opportunities for children and youth to build positive relationships in their family, school and communities, and to help them achieve their full academic potential.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Ensure service delivery is performed according to SEAMAAC&rsquo;s mission and TCM program policies and procedures.</li><li>Lead training for TCM new hires. Complete and submit training packets. Ensure all reports, documentation, and tasks are completed to meet program standards.</li><li>Carry a maximum caseload of 20 families and up to 35 families during extenuating circumstances with high program referral rates. Perform all tiers of services with accuracy and timeliness.</li><li>Support the children and families in a manner that fosters independence, growth and development and will facilitate the child and families achieving their stated goals.</li><li>Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to accommodate families&rsquo; availability.</li><li>Travel around local Philadelphia neighborhoods extensively.</li><li>Maintain consistent communication with of Supervisors new hire.</li><li>Exercise discretion and maintain staff and client confidentiality.</li><li>Attend regular supervision, department meetings, and trainings.</li></ul>ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Actively participate in organizational-wide and community work efforts and a minimum of 5 events per calendar year.</li><li>Cross training in all tiers.</li><li>Other assignments, including translation/interpretation, as required.</li></ul>COMPETENCIES:<ul><li>Understanding of, and commitment to, SEAMAAC&rsquo;s principles, concerns, and considerations in regard to issues of race, class, nationality, religion, age, gender and sexual orientation, and disabilities.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as advanced computer skills.</li><li>Effectively work and communicate with diverse staff in a team environment.</li><li>Proficiency in quality assurance efforts.</li><li>High ethical standards, integrity, and adherence to confidentiality.</li><li>Ability to handle a heavy workload, exercise discretion, and handle multiple priorities.</li><li>Organizational and leadership skills.</li><li>A passion and desire to serve the community.</li><li>Knowledgeable about issues facing public education and low-income children and youth of color.</li><li>Knowledgeable about issues facing immigrant/refugee communities in particular and other economically, politically and socially marginalized communities in general.</li><li>Bilingual candidate is preferred.</li></ul>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
