<div>POSTDOCTORAL POSITION &ndash; McDermott Lab
POSITION SUMMARY:
Developmental and RNA biology of protozoan pathogens
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist with interests in molecular mechanisms of RNA processing and their roles in the development of Trypanosomatid pathogens. The project will use a combination of complementary genetic, molecular, cellular, protein structure/function, and informatic methods. Responsibilities include literature review, experimental design and performing experiments, data analysis, and preparation of reports and manuscripts. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in cellular and molecular biology, especially with respect to protozoan pathogens, and expertise in basic cell and molecular biological techniques. The ideal candidate will be independent, motivated and hard-working. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the abilities to establish clear goals, organize and prioritize research, work with a diverse and collaborative team, and thrive within a multi-disciplinary environment are critical.
The PI is committed to trainees&rsquo; career development and will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to compete for fellowships, high-profile publications, and academic awards.

A Ph.D. or equivalent biomedical degree in cell and molecular biology and/or microbiology, experience in molecular analyses and a strong understanding of cellular processes are required.
The research is conducted in the highly interactive Seattle research environment that includes the closely located University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle Children&rsquo;s Research Institute and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and is carried out in collaboration with other labs both in Seattle and nationwide.

Postdoctoral Fellow - McDermott Lab

<div>Odessa Brown Children&rsquo;s Clinic (OBCC) has locations in Othello and the Central District. Services at the clinics include pediatric medical care, behavioral health, dental services, nutrition, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more. Since 1970, OBCC has worked to uphold the vision of community organizer Odessa Brown: to bring quality healthcare with dignity to children from birth to young adulthood in the Central District and south Seattle.
Provides pediatric dental care to examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums within Seattle Children's Odessa Brown Children's Clinic's (OBCC) Dental Clinic and any of its associated locations. May treat diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth. May fit dental appliances or provide preventive care, evaluate tooth and jaw development and growth. May serve as a clinical attending providing supervision, training and education to both pediatric and general practice dental residents that treat patients in our clinic. Provides clinical training, education, and support for other healthcare learners from additional schools and programs, and within the community. May serve as lead provider of clinical operations of the dental clinic as needed.
Compensation: $95.38-118.20, hourly 
Required Education and Experience 
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), or DMD (Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD), or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM) Minimum of three (3) years of clinical dental experience working with pediatric/adolescent patients Experience with medically, developmentally and socially complex pediatric patients. Experience working with diverse cultures and socioeconomic groups. Knowledge and practice in providing Trauma informed care to patients and families. 
 
Required Credentials
 
Licensed Dentist in the State of Washington. Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment. All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year. Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Seattle Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Seattle Children's. Provides pediatric dental care in the OBCC Dental Clinic. Provides clinical training and education as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Washington, School of Dentistry. May serve as Deputy Chief of Clinical Operations with responsibility for the daily operations of the dental clinic.
Compensation: $198,390-333,029, annually

Odessa Brown Children's Clinic- Dentist, per diem

The post-doctoral scholar will envision research strategies that could ultimately benefit children with medical or mental health disorders or diseases. In consultation with the mentor whose lab they will join and other mentors with clinical or biotechnology expertise, the scholar will establish a plan for engineering or creating candidate therapeutics or improving existing therapeutics. Possible areas of therapeutic discovery and development include gene therapy, cellular therapeutics (e.g., CAR-T cells), or protein therapeutics (e.g., antibody or peptide therapeutics). Initial experiments may focus on target validation or proof-of concept efficacy studies. Later work may focus on maximizing potential therapeutic efficacy and minimizing potential toxicity. When appropriate, scholars will focus on molecules or cells that have potential to enter human clinical trials. Experiments will often involve collaboration with other scientists to create compelling data that drives subsequent research and development decisions. Scholars will engage in biotech-oriented team science that involves milestone-driven research and will collaborate with their mentors to make clear &quot;Go/No-Go&quot; decisions that mirror biotech mindset and processes. Postdoctoral scholars will take the lead on preparing manuscripts that report their results and work toward the goal of becoming nationally competitive for careers in academia or industry. Up to 20% of time will be devoted to coursework designed to develop skills in drug discovery and development, regulatory affairs, and intellectual property management.
