Job Type: Part-time (24 hours per week)Salary: $25.00 hourlySupervisor: Director of Finance and OperationsLocation: Senior Neighbors Central Office, Hybrid (2 days in office, 1 remote workday per week)Position Summary To maintain a fiscal recording and reporting system that will supply timely and usable data to administrative and program staff and will maintain accountability and credibility. The accountant plays a key role in ensuring that transactions related to agency payrolls, accounts payable, and cash receipt functions are processed on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. *Other duties as assigned.&middot; Accounts Payable Processingo Process weekly agency accounts payable. Facilitates payment of vendors invoices and purchase orders which may include reviewing accuracy and eligibility for payment and resolving discrepancies.o Verifying invoices and purchase orders have proper approvals before payment.o Ensure employer identification number of social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for preparation and submission of 1099s.&middot; Post Grant Award Accounting - Track expenses against grant budgets through processing of accounts payable and payroll transactions. Assist in financial reporting for periodic grant reports.&middot; Payroll Processingo Enter, maintain and/or review payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, hourly rates, garnishments, employee mileage and expenses reimbursements and other information.o Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.o Record bi-weekly payroll transactions to the general ledger.&middot; Cash Receipts Processingo Processes receipt of payments from various programs including completion of bank deposits. Reporting receipts to appropriate program managers and finance staff for completion of appropriate client and accounting transactions. Reporting any receipts to the development department for data entry to the donor database.&middot; Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records.&middot; Maintain computerized accounting systems and financial data with confidentiality and accuracy.&middot; Serves as back up in recording, reconciling and reporting functions.QualificationsEducation / Experience&middot; Bachelor's Degree in accounting. Three to five years' experience in non-profit accounting preferred.&middot; Understanding and familiarity with accounting procedures required by non-profit organizations with multiple funding sources.Competencies&middot; Knowledge of grant cycles and general compliance activities.&middot; Previous experience in managing budgets and reporting outcomes preferred.&middot; Previous experience in tracking service work completed compared to goals and objectives.&middot; Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, email, and general internet functions required.&middot; Intermediate ability to use remote software such as Zoom, Teams, and other programs preferred.&middot; Intermediate experience in accounting software and reporting skills required.&middot; Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently.&middot; Positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Special Licensing&middot; None required.Expected Hours of Work&middot; Standard office hours are M-F 8:00 am-4:30 pm.Physical Demands / Work Environment&middot; Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.&middot; Occasional travel to complete duties and responsibilities.&middot; Must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license, satisfactory driving record and access to private transportation that meets state insurance requirements and vehicle safety standards to use on agency business.Equal Employment Opportunity StatementSenior Neighbors is an equal opportunity employer.&middot; Committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and a racism-free culture in the workplace and our community.&middot; Committed to offering reasonable accommodation to job applicants with disabilities.
