The Research Analyst Intern must commit to two (2) days a week in the office for approximately 20 hours per week. The Research &amp; Evaluation team operates on a 10am-6pm office schedule. Depending on the team's needs, you will join us in person at SEO offices two days per week. You will work with your supervisor to determine your weekly schedule and will receive advance notice of any changes.

Internship Overview

This is a project-based internship, where you will have the opportunity to work on real-world data challenges and develop your professional portfolio in service of our SEO Scholars outcomes: getting accepted into 4-year colleges and graduating with a bachelor's degree (https://www.seo-usa.org/scholars/).

As the Research Analyst Intern working under the Research &amp; Evaluation (R&amp;E) team, you will leverage various data sources and analytical techniques to extract insights, supporting the work of SEO Scholars' New York, San Francisco, Guilford County, and Miami sites. You'll work closely with the R&amp;E team to make sense of key program data collected to support program evaluation and improvement through standard and ad-hoc analyses. The internship will culminate in a capstone project tailored to your skills and interests, where you'll take ownership of a major initiative and showcase your contributions with a tangible deliverable, supported by the Research Analyst, Data Management Intern and the project team.

In this role, you will:
<ul>
<li>Assist in preparing visualizations and reports for key stakeholders.</li>
<li>Provide analysis to support academic program needs and improvements.</li>
<li>Provide quality assurance in executive summaries, projects, forms, and presentations.</li>
<li>Explore opportunities to streamline data processing and visualization through statistical computing software (R, Python, Stata)</li>
<li>Participate in other special projects as needed.</li>
</ul>
Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to:

Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Economics, Psychology, Business, Data Analytics, Information Sciences or similar quantitative/qualitative background.</li>
<li>Coursework in quantitative or qualitative research methods</li>
<li>Comfortable using advanced Excel skills: e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, and graphs</li>
<li>Proficiency in a programming language (R/Python preferred)</li>
<li>Knowledge of relational databases and SQL queries</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly communicate technical concepts</li>
<li>Must be a reliable and responsible team member capable of employing best judgment while handling sensitive and confidential information.</li>

Research Analyst Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Part-Time Math Curriculum Developer is responsible for: 1. designing, developing, and refining math curriculum that is research based, culturally responsive, aligned to traditional high school math courses (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus) and supports students' quantitative and problem-solving skill development; and 2. supporting the part-time math instructor hiring process and conducting instructor observations. This role works under the direction of the Senior Manager of Math Curriculum and collaborates with instructors, teaching and learning managers, and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a skilled curriculum writer and math pedagogue with classroom experience who is adept at project management and thrives on creativity, collaboration, and forward-thinking design.

Curriculum Design and Development (50%)
<ul>
<li>Develop and revise high-quality math curriculum for grades 9&ndash;12 for a variety of settings (synchronous and asynchronous, in-person and remote), including lesson plans, classwork, assignments, assessments, and instructional resources.</li>
<li>Ensure curriculum aligns with Common Core State Standards, state and national benchmarks, and organizational objectives.</li>
<li>Create multimedia content (scripts and instructional videos) to support curriculum delivery and student engagement.</li>
<li>Stay current with trends and research in curriculum design and secondary/post-secondary education.</li>
<li>Complete curriculum writing projects on schedule and with attention to detail.</li>
<li>Engage in regular check-ins with the Senior Manager of Math Curriculum, and revise curriculum materials based on feedback.</li>
<li>Other responsibilities as assigned</li>
</ul>
Teaching and Instructional Community Support (30%)
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with the Teaching &amp; Learning team to:
<ul><li>Support part-time instructor hiring during the fall, spring and summer semesters across all sites by observing demo lessons, conducting interviews, and providing hiring recommendations based on high school math content knowledge and pedagogy</li>
<li>Conduct instructor observations during Saturday Academy and Summer Academy (both in-person at our New York City programming sites and online over zoom); provide actionable feedback to instructors, the Teaching &amp; Learning team, and the Math team.</li>
<li>Act as a substitute math teacher on Saturdays for online or in-person programming as needed.</li>
<li>Other responsibilities as assigned</li>
</ul>
</li></ul>Cross-Functional and Organizational Collaboration (20%)
<ul>
<li>Work closely with the Math team to analyze assessment, survey, and evaluation data to guide revisions.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other curriculum teams (Advisory and ELA) to ensure coherence and integration across academic programs.</li>
<li>Participate in weekly math team meetings and collaborative meetings with internal stakeholders to strengthen curriculum design and delivery.</li>

</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Curriculum &amp; Instruction, or related field. Master's degree preferred.</li>
<li>2&ndash;4 years of experience teaching high school math and/or designing high school math curriculum.</li>
<li>Strong high school math content knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.</li>
<li>Experience coaching teachers or providing instructional resources is a plus.</li>
</ul>

<li>Proficiency in educational technology, digital curriculum delivery, and use of math-specific languages and tools (e.g. Desmos Graphing Calculator and Computational Layer programming, LaTeX, MathML, etc.)</li>
