Role:
 
An Accounting Specialist's primary responsibility is to perform various routine, clerical and research duties in regards to (but not limited to) general ledger postings, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and preparation of reports associated with the accounting department. Researches and responds to inquiries and contacts other staff and departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of support problems. 
 
This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the position's manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. 
 
Essential Functions &amp; Responsibilities:
50% Completes general ledger entries and reconcilement function for Service 1st 
30% Receives and reviews invoices as submitted by other departments. Processes the
 
accounts payable function for the credit union. 
 5% Prepares monthly reports associated with the accounting department. 
 5% Maintains proper files and records of the credit union. Follows record retention 
 requirements. 
 5% Supports the requests and needs of branches and departments as needed. 
 Resolves issues via use of internal help desk ticket system. 
 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 
Performance Measurements:<ul><li>
Responsible for the general ledger reconcilement function and various accounting functions including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, investments, preparation of financial reports, etc.</li><li>
Receives and reviews invoices as submitted by other departments. Processes the accounts payable function for the credit union.</li><li>
Prepares monthly reports associated with the accounting department as needed.</li><li>
Monitors and maintains Corporate cash accounts daily.</li><li>
Scan documents into Imaging System as required.</li><li>
Supports the requests and needs of branches and departments as needed.</li><li>
Ensures full compliance with the credit union's policies and procedures, accounting 
standards, internal control procedures, confidentiality requirements, and all applicable regulatory and audit obligations.
</li><li>Participate in training and professional development activities to acquire and maintain standards established by the credit union. This could include attending conferences, seminars and workshops as directed by Management</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 

Knowledge and Skills: 
 
Experience: Requires three years of similar or related experience with at least six months of that experience in credit union or banking environment. 
 
Education: Requires completion of a high school education or equivalent. Two years of higher education or an Associate's Degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred. 
 
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information. 
 
Other Skills:<ul><li>Requires, intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving decimals,</li></ul>
 percentages, fractions, etc.)<ul><li>Must be able to operate a 10-key calculator, typewriter, and keyboard.</li><li>Requires working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.</li><li>Requires working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
</li></ul>Physical Requirements:<div><ul><li>Exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move</li></ul>
 objects.<ul><li>Involves sitting most of the time.</li><li>Walking and standing are required occasionally.</li><li>Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper files and</li></ul>
 documents.<ul><li>Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing; viewing a</li></ul>
 computer terminal; extensive reading; etc.
</div>Work Environment:
<ul><li>Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.</li><li>State of Pennsylvania residency required.</li><li>Position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the positions</li></ul>
 manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy. In order to be approved to 
 work from home, a cable modem or fiber internet connection is required which must have 
 minimum service speed of 10M download / 2M upload, with less than 1% packet loss. Internet 
 service and modem are the employee's expense.
