We're a home-grown California architectural metalworking shop known for craftsmanship, precision, and collaboration. We're looking for a Project Manager to lead our jobs from start to finish-owning project schedules, managing the 2-Week Look Ahead (and all other look-aheads), and ensuring projects stay on track, on budget, and on time.

This is not a traditional shop foreman role. While you'll work closely with our production and fabrication teams, your focus is on project planning, scheduling, communication, and accountability-being the connective tissue between clients, designers, leadership, and the shop.

What You'll Do

Project &amp; Schedule Management
<ul>
<li>Own and update the 2-Week Look Ahead and all forward-looking schedules.</li>
<li>Track milestones, procurement needs, and dependencies across projects.</li>
<li>Anticipate and resolve bottlenecks before they impact production.</li>
<li>Deliver clear &quot;on track / off track&quot; updates to leadership and clients.</li>
</ul>
Cross-Team Coordination
<ul>
<li>Act as liaison between shop, design/estimating, and office staff.</li>
<li>Support estimators with scope clarifications and real-time production data.</li>
<li>Ensure proactive communication with clients, designers, and subcontractors.</li>
</ul>
Operational Oversight
<ul>
<li>Utilize project data and reporting through Fulcrum ERP and other systems.</li>
<li>Approve and verify time and cost reporting (QuickBooks Time).</li>
<li>Monitor inventory standards, labor hours, and change orders to keep budgets accurate.</li>
<li>Identify schedule risks and capacity issues, recommending adjustments.</li>
</ul>
Continuous Improvement
<ul>
<li>Propose at least one efficiency or scheduling improvement per month.</li>
<li>Support leadership with resource allocation and workload planning.</li>
<li>Ensure OSHA practices and shop safety compliance are consistently upheld.</li></ul>

Qualifications

Required
<ul>
<li>5+ Years Experience in Previous Architectural Metalworking management.</li>
<li>5+ Years Proven experience managing projects, schedules, and look-ahead planning in construction, manufacturing, or fabrication.</li>
<li>Strong organizational and communication skills.</li>
<li>Familiarity with ERP platforms (Fulcrum experience a plus), scheduling tools, and timekeeping systems.</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously.</li>
</ul>
Preferred, but not required
<ul>
<li>Background in architectural metalworking, fabrication, or custom manufacturing.</li>
<li>Knowledge of OSHA standards and compliance.</li></ul></div></div>

Draft. Estimate. Organize. Build excellence from concept to execution.

Join a team committed to creating exceptional architectural metalwork, from statement staircases to sculptural elements and functional details. In this part-time (with potential for full-time) remote role, you'll take ownership of drafting, estimating, and technical coordination, translating rough ideas into beautiful, buildable, and budget-conscious solutions.

Major Responsibilities:

Drafting:
<ul>
<li>Produce accurate and detailed digital drawing sets for client approval based on raw sketches, redlines, and project specs.</li>
<li>Translate approved designs into shop-ready documentation, including 2D and 3D files, BOMs, cut lists, hardware specs, and quality standards.</li>
<li>Generate and maintain traveler packets in alignment with internal drafting department standards.</li>
<li>Provide accurate cut files (.DXF or .STEP) for internal CNC or external vendor use and coordinate with vendors during handoffs.</li>
<li>Place vendor orders for materials or hardware when delegated by the Shop Foreman or Operations Manager.</li>
<li>Confirm current pricing and delivery timelines, and coordinate with internal stakeholders as needed.</li>
</ul>
Estimating:
<ul>
<li>Clarify quote request scopes and identify relevant project elements, including dimensions, finishes, materials, and fabrication requirements.</li>
<li>Submit RFIs to clients and RFQs to vendors to clarify scope, lead times, and costs.</li>
<li>Estimate labor hours or coordinate with the Shop Foreman to gather and understand time projections.</li>
<li>Draft internal scope language for Client Service Manager to finalize proposals.</li>
<li>For CNC-only jobs, take full ownership of estimating and proposal development using Paperless Parts software.</li>
</ul>
General Coordination:
<ul>
<li>Maintain clear, well-organized project files in shared digital folders, ensuring the latest working models are uploaded and accessible weekly.</li>
<li>Build and maintain an organized library of frequently used parts and non-SFM components.</li>
<li>Adhere to established SFM CAD Standards for modeling practices, file structure, and documentation clarity.</li>
<li>Proactively communicate project updates and expected hours to the Manager weekly.</li>
<li>Flag scope or timeline changes early to support internal alignment or client-issued change orders.</li>
</ul>
Skills &amp; Qualifications:

Hard:
<ul>
<li>3+ years drafting experience in architectural or mechanical settings, with portfolio required.</li>
<li>Proficient in Rhino 6+, Fusion 360 or SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Excel/Google Sheets.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of fabrication methods and mechanical design principles.</li>
<li>Ability to model in 3D and extract 2D shop drawings with high attention to detail.</li>
<li>Familiarity with CNC workflows and cut file creation (.dxf, .step).</li>
<li>Experience in estimating materials, labor, and coordinating with vendors.</li>
<li>Organized, methodical, and clear communicator verbally and in writing.</li>
</ul>

Physical Demand and Work Environment: 
This is a remote, part-time role (20-30 hours per week) with potential for full-time based on performance and business needs. General availability during Pacific Standard Time business hours is expected. May include sitting or standing at a computer for up to 10 hours a day. While most duties can be performed virtually, preference is given to candidates located in California or within driving distance of Colusa, CA.

Compensation &amp; Benefits: 
$30-$45/hour, depending on experience.
