POSITION PURPOSEUnder the general supervision of the Solid Waste Director, this position performs a combination of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled work related to solid waste operations, providing customer service at the recycling facility, and performing general labor to support county services. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.Work Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 6:45 AM-3:15 PM (Full Time)Hourly Pay Rate: $21/hr.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES<ul><li>Operate a backhoe and other equipment necessary for county solid waste services, including single-axle trucks (pickups) and lawn mowers</li><li>Operate vehicles requiring a Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL)</li><li>Maintain cleanliness and proper care of all equipment and vehicles</li><li>Assist customers at the scales and provide courteous customer service</li><li>Help customers unload waste in a safe and professional manner</li><li>Perform duties related to the proper handling and management of solid waste</li><li>Conduct housekeeping and cleaning of the solid waste area and truck garage to maintain safety and cleanliness</li><li>Perform related duties as assigned</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: <ul><li>High school diploma or GED equivalent</li><li>Valid Kentucky Driver&rsquo;s License</li><li>MUST have valid Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL) &ndash; Class A or B</li></ul>EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:<ul><li>Unskilled or semi-skilled manual work experience</li><li>2 Years truck driving experience.</li><li>Operation of variety of hand powered tools</li></ul>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions2. Knowledge of work-related hazards and applicable safety precautions3. Ability to recognize equipment operating deficiencies and make minor adjustments4. Ability to perform moderately heavy to heavy labor for extended periods5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public6. Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances and regulations related to operating departmental vehicles7.
