SummaryAssists the Manager of Materials and Logistics in managing and adjusting the purchasing, logistics, and inventory control processes for the cooperative to make sure that all cooperative policies for purchasing and inventory control are met. This position secures and analyzes relevant data to identify cost saving opportunities, monitor supplier performance, and improve overall procurement responsiveness.Reporting&middot; Reports to: Manager of Materials and Logistics&middot; Directs: NoneResponsibilities&middot; Responsible for data management of purchasing in the following areas:a. Maximization of inventory turnoverb. Minimize inventory levelsc. Procurement responsiveness&middot; Analyze market trends, assess costs and identify optimal purchasing options.&middot; Coordinate material management, logistics, and inventory control for all supplies, tools, and equipment needs at the Cooperative.&middot; Assist with negotiating individual and blanket purchase agreements that are in alignment with the purchasing policies of the Cooperative, and in the best interest of the organization.&middot; Supports the transportation and fleet requirements of the cooperative.&middot; Stay current with RUS material specifications and ensure that all materials ordered and received are inspected and compliant with these requirements.&middot; Facilitate the work order inspection process from outside parties for RUS verification.&middot; Work closely with accounting to ensure the accuracy of inventory and other RUS accounting procedures associated with the work order process and to process invoices.&middot; Maintain and distribute statistical data records and reports.&middot; Maintain ongoing vendor contact information.&middot; Assist in special projects as necessary.Education and Experience&middot; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in supply chain management or business administration or related field preferred.&middot; 5 years&rsquo; progressive experience in electrical utility materials management or purchasing related to warehousing.&middot; Knowledge and understanding of RUS work order processes.&middot; Must be experienced in inventory management and cost accounting skills.&middot; Background in cooperative business practices preferred.&middot; Experience in the rural electrification and Cooperative principles is preferred.&middot; Supervisory experience preferred.Required Skills and Abilities&middot; Must be able to maintain professionalism and control under all circumstances.&middot; Has and maintains a valid driver&rsquo;s license and acceptable driving record and is able to operate SVEC vehicles.&middot; Must become and remain certified in CPR and first aid. Must also be skilled in the use of safety equipment.&middot; Ability to handle the challenge of operating efficiently under a very flexible schedule due to the number of unanticipated and unplanned requests for services from the various individuals, departments and outside contacts with whom this position is involved.&middot; Strong leadership skills.&middot; Strong written, analytical, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work with vendors.&middot; Ability to dissect and resolve complex problems quickly and systematically.&middot; Negotiation skills and bid analysis for successful material procurement.&middot; Possess advanced communication skills that facilitate problem solving across divisions of the cooperative, and negotiation of purchase contracts with vendors.&middot; Ability to interview and select employees.&middot; Ability to supervise, coach and direct employees.&middot; Ability to work well with other departments&rsquo; personnel and to break down &ldquo;silos&rdquo;.&middot; Ability to provide functional direction of employees in other workgroups and build strong vendor relationships to develop partnerships with people critical to material procurement and inventory control.&middot; Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.&middot; Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.Physical Requirements&middot; Participation in SVEC job safety and training programs, relevant workshops, seminars and other SVEC sponsored courses and events.&middot; Must be able to use office equipment including telephone, computer, and other systems and related software in the performance of position responsibilities.&middot; Must be able and available, during any and all types of weather conditions, to work weekends, holidays, evenings and other times outside normal duty hours to assist in service restoration and other emergencies that may arise or when the workload demands.&middot; Must always maintain an operating telephone or personal communication device at his/her place of residence. Ability to contact the telephone or personal communication device must be made available to SVEC for the purpose of contacting the manager to conduct legitimate routine and/or emergency business.&middot; This position involves primarily inside work. Must be able to lift objects unassisted (up to 50 pounds).
