The Lateral Conflicts Analyst is a member of Sheppard Mullin&rsquo;s Office of the General Counsel. Working under the direction of the Manager of Lateral Conflicts and other in-house counsel, the Conflicts Analyst reports on potential conflicts of interest relating to lateral partner and non-partner hiring.</div><div></div><div><br>

Primary Responsibilities and Expectations</b></div><div><b>

Responsibilities:</b></div><ul><li>
Analyze and summarize potential conflicts of interest for further review/resolution by Manager of Lateral Conflicts and in-house attorneys.</li><li>
Conduct factual research using internal and external resources, which may include researching corporate relationships (using LexisNexis, D&amp;B, web publications and similar public databases) and discussions with attorneys and/or legal support staff to gather information and/or clarification regarding a party or matter.</li><li>
Perform conflicts research, database maintenance, data entry, and special projects, as requested.</li><li>
Respond to inquiries timely and effectively.</li></ul><div><br>

Essential Functions of Job:</b></div><ul><li>
Collaborate with Manager of Lateral Conflicts and attorneys in the Office of General Counsel to research, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest.</li><li>
Review lateral candidate conflict submissions and intake forms and ensure completeness and accuracy.</li><li>
Review searches and reports for lateral attorney and non-attorney candidates at various stages of recruiting process, and/or other new business, using the Firm&rsquo;s conflicts and intake databases.</li><li>
Ability to articulate in writing the key findings in the form of a summary or report.</li><li>
Monitor and address all incoming email to shared department email inbox for urgent requests.</li></ul><div><br>

Qualifications and Experience</b></div><div>

Required Qualifications:</b></div><div><b>
</b></div><ul><li>
2+ years&rsquo; experience within lateral conflicts administration at a mid to large size law firm</li><li>
Experience with iManage, LegalKey, Intapp, or similar Conflicts administration software
</li><li>Basic typing skills (at least 40 wpm)
</li><li>Proficiency with Outlook, Word and Excel</li><li>
Ability to compile, review, filter, synthesize, and interpret information which is varied in content and format</li><li>
Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and make decisions when appropriate</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the applicable rules of professional conduct regarding conflicts of interest</li><li>
Strong research skills using internal and external resources.
</li><li>Proven aptitude to quickly learn new applications</li><li>
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to produce a high quality and accurate work product with minimal supervision</li><li>
Ability to work effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li></ul><div>

Preferred Qualifications:</b> Experience with clearing/resolving conflicts (i.e. reviewing engagement letters and contacting partners)<br>

Computer/Software Knowledge</b><br>
<br>
<b>Required:</b></div><ul><li>
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.</li><li>
Experience with database search systems such as Elegrity (now iManage) E-VALUATE, Legal Key, and/or IntappOpen.</li></ul><div>

Work Environment</b></div><div><b>
</b></div><ul><li><b>
 </b>Working indoors with limited exposure to hazards (only those that customarily come up in working in a high-rise or office building).</li><li>
Indoor office work environment in a cubical or like workstation.</li><li>
You will be based in one of our local Sheppard Mullin offices but will be allowed to work from home.</li><li>
You are required to come into the office on an as-needed basis.</li><li>
Overtime will be required on occasion as the workload demands.</li></ul><div>
