At Shimano Europe, we&rsquo;re looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys building data solutions and keeping them running smoothly. In this role, you&rsquo;ll work on developing and maintaining data pipelines that connect SAP S/4HANA and other systems to our Azure data platform. 
This is not just a project-based role, you&rsquo;ll also be involved in day-to-day operations, supporting the business with data needs, resolving issues, and continuously improving our data landscape.

The Challenge</h1>
Build &amp; Improve Data Solutions<ul><li>
Design and manage Azure SQL Databases for ETL using various schemas, tables, views, and functions.</li><li>
Build and orchestrate Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for data movement and scheduling.</li><li>
Create and optimize SQL queries, transformations, and stored procedures.</li><li>
Ensure data is accurate, consistent, and ready for use across systems.</li><li>
REST API Consumption where working with JSON responses is common practice.</li></ul>
Keep Things Running (Daily Operations)<ul><li>
Monitor daily data loads and pipelines to make sure everything runs smoothly.</li><li>
Handle Topdesk tickets (incidents, service requests, and small improvements)</li><li>
Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.</li><li>
Help ensure stable and reliable data delivery for the business.</li></ul>
Support the Business<ul><li>
Work on ad hoc data requests from analysts and business teams.</li><li>
Provide quick access to data, extracts, and insights when needed.</li><li>
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and deliver on their data needs.</li></ul>
Work with SAP &amp; Integrations<ul><li>
Support integration with SAP S/4HANA and validate incoming data.</li><li>
Help map data into usable models for reporting and applications.</li><li>
Contribute to the transition from legacy systems to modern solutions.</li></ul>
Modernize &amp; Improve<ul><li>
Review and improve existing (legacy) pipelines and SQL code.</li><li>
Simplify and streamline processes to reduce complexity and technical debt.</li><li>
Continuously look for ways to make the platform more efficient and scalable.</li></ul>
Deploy &amp; Document<ul><li>
Support deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.</li><li>
Experience with Git is a must. Use git for versioning SQL scripts and projects.</li><li>
Document all technical decisions, dependencies, and open issues for team continuity.</li><li>
Provide knowledge transfer sessions to team members and stakeholders</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
What are we looking for?</h1><ul><li>
4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in a cloud environment.</li><li>
Strong proficiency in SQL Server / Azure SQL Database (T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning)</li><li>
Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for pipeline orchestration and scheduling.</li><li>
Experience building CI/CD pipelines for database and application deployments.</li><li>
Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA data models or enterprise ERP integration.</li><li>
Proficiency with .NET (C#) for API development or willingness to learn.</li><li>
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data modeling, and data warehouse concepts.</li><li>
Experience with Git version control and Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms.</li><li>
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to data integrity and quality.</li><li>
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.</li></ul>
Nice to Have<ul><li>
Experience with legacy system improvements or migrations and data modeling techniques.</li><li>
Understanding of EDIFACT messages like PRICAT (Price Catalogue).</li><li>
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards</li><li>
Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for data quality monitoring</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
