Shrub Oak International School (SOIS) is a therapeutic day and residential school for autistic children, adolescents, and young adults with complex co-occurring conditions. Who You Are:</b></p><ul><li>
You have an expert-level grasp of classic debits and credits with a natural ability to spot and rectify bookkeeping errors</li><li>
You have demonstrated experience in structuring complex financials across multiple departments.</li><li>
You have the ability to bridge the gap between daily transactional accounting and high-level strategic reporting, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.</li></ul>
<p><b>
Job Responsibilities:</b></p><b>
Full-Charge Bookkeeping &amp; Ledger Integrity:</b><ul><li>
Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring a rock-solid foundation of debits and credits.</li><li>
Proactively audit the ledger to identify, investigate, and correct mis posted transactions.</li></ul><b>
Departmental &amp; Class Accounting:</b><ul><li>
Utilize advanced &ldquo;Class&rdquo; and &ldquo;Location&rdquo; tracking in QuickBooks to manage complex cost allocations and generate precise departmental Profit &amp; Loss (P&amp;L) statements.</li></ul><b>
Financial Reporting &amp; Metrics:</b><ul><li>
Prepare and deliver streamlined, accurate weekly cash flow updates, monthly financial packages, and key operational metrics to the leadership team.</li></ul><b>
Audit Readiness:</b><ul><li>
Serve as the primary interface for external auditors, preparing comprehensive audit schedules, workpapers, and reconciliations to ensure a smooth, efficient annual review.</li></ul><b>
Mult-Location Workflows:</b><ul><li>
Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows across multiple locations, leveraging tools like Bill.com to maintain strict approval hierarchies and controls.</li></ul><b>
Process Organization &amp; Tech Integration:</b><ul><li>
Continuously improve accounting workflows leveraging Microsoft 365 tools and implementing AI-enabled approaches to automate routine tasks, data extraction, and reconciliations.</li></ul><br>

<p><b>
Position Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>
Active CPA designation (US or Canada) is required</li><li>
Familiarity with AP/AR automation platforms such as Bill.com or similar multi-tiered approval software preferred.</li><li>
Practical knowledge or a strong interest in AI-enabled accounting tools and automation frameworks to drive efficiency preferred.</li><li>
Experience managing accounting for multi-entity or multi-location businesses.</li></ul><b>
Software Expertise:</b><ul><li>
Deep hands-on experience with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Enterprise.</li></ul><b>
Technical Accounting:</b><ul><li>
Mastery of double-entry accounting, revenue recognition, and GAAP/IFRS principles. Proven ability to clean up messy books and establish rigorous controls.</li></ul><b>
Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365:</b><ul><li>
Exceptional Excel skills (lookups, advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling) and seamless navigation of the Microsoft 365 suite.</li></ul><b>
Analytical Mindset:</b><ul><li>
Strong diagnostic skills, you don&rsquo;t just look at the numbers; you notice when a pattern is off and know how to fix it.</li></ul>
