The Quality Engineer supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance systems and processes to ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a vital part in minimizing defects, improving manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction by embedding quality into every stage of the packaging production process.This role is on-site in Merced, CA.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs an at-will employer, SIG reserves the right to add to or modify this list to the extent it deems necessary.<ul><li>Support leadership in the implementation and maintenance of the SES Quality Pillar requirements.</li><li>Identify trends in quality data and collaborate with operations to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase yield.</li><li>Support the execution of root cause analysis of complex and systematic internal and external non-quality occurrences, acting as a focal point in the guidance and use of quality tools for analysis and problem solving.</li><li>Assist the development and maintenance of Control Plans and PFMEA, following SES Quality Pillar guidance.</li><li>Manage changes of global valid manufacturing and Process specifications including a traceable review/update of the Quality Product control plans (QPCP), Standard Operating Conditions (SOC), Critical Quality Product Characteristic (CQPC) as well as Critical Quality Process Parameters (CQPP).</li><li>Support the qualification process of new products, equipment and raw materials regarding validation of quality systems (specifications, product/process controls).</li><li>Ensure that local changes (e.g., process changes, countermeasures/ learnings from improvement activities or teams) are managed in an effective and efficient way.</li><li>Works closely with the operations team to ensure that the required Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) / process parameters linked to the product/equipment are defined and documented.</li><li>Develop, implement and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC), ensuring the effective usage of these tools in the daily management of the production.</li><li>Define and implement improvement teams/ improvement projects to attack defects based on quality related loss deployments.</li></ul>YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE &amp; EDUCATION<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering (Chemical, Food, Production, Mechanical)</li><li>3-5 years experince in Quality or Continuous Improvement</li><li>Fluent in English, written and verbal</li><li>Highly proficient in MS Office, with demonstrated ability to manage data, generate KPIs, and develop executive-level presentations.</li><li>Expert-level Minitab user, with strong command of statistical quality methodologies and quality transaction processes.</li><li>Skilled in applying risk analysis tools, providing meaningful insights to support decision-making and thorough risk assessments.</li><li>Strong command of quality tools, including interpreting quality indicators and delivering clear, data-driven results presentations.</li><li>Deep experience in metrology, including oversight, calibration, and operation of testing and measurement equipment.</li><li>Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of effectively handling customer complaints and resolving internal incidents.</li><li>Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and general quality management system principles.</li></ul>WE OFFER:<ul><li>Generous Day 1 eligibility healthcare &amp; life insurance for you and qualified dependents</li><li>401K Retirement matching reimbursement</li><li>Vacation &amp; PSL</li><li>Paid Holidays</li><li>Performance Bonus</li><li>And much more!</li></ul>Actual compensation will be determined based on a combination of factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, education, skills, internal equity, and overall business considerations.SIG COMPENTENCIESWe are looking for people who are willing to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances, employees who create a climate where everyone is motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
