SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions and clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services. The Medical Assistant provides excellent patient care by prepping patients for appointments, administering medications, completing appropriate health and medication information and accompanying documentation, obtaining vital signs, and maintaining a healthy/safe work environment. The Medical Assistant will create a professional and friendly work environment while utilizing medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and staff.
HOW YOU&rsquo;LL SUCCEED:<ul><li>
Responsible for intake of all patient appointments to include: vital signs, height and weight, confirming reason for visit, interviewing patient to determine health history for documentation, preparation of patient for examination/interview/procedure, and updating medication profile during rooming process prior to provider visit.</li><li>
Assist in evaluating patient's response to the plan of care and works in collaboration with the inter-professional team to make any needed adjustments as directed by the RN or provider.</li><li>
Assist in coordination of care for patients across service lines within and outside of Signature Health to coordinate excellent patient care.</li><li>
Complete appropriate documentation in the medical record to comply with state, federal, and departmental policies when sharing/documenting patient care data.</li><li>
Exhibit a non-judgmental, empathetic, and a fully supportive approach when communicating with patients, families, and staff.</li><li>
Provides care that is safe, ethical, patient and family centered, culturally congruent, age related, and evidence based.</li><li>
Ensuring quality of care by implementing nursing philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing requirements and to other governing and regulatory entities.</li><li>
Administer medication under the direction of a Physician or Nurse Practitioner.</li><li>
Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.</li></ul>
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE &amp; EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.</li><li>
1+ years' experience in an ambulatory based setting as a Medical Assistant preferred.</li><li>
Medical Assistant Certification required; certification completion required within 6 months of hire.</li><li>
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.</li><li>
Knowledge and comfortability with vaccine administration; knowledge of OSHA, FDA and CDC guidelines.</li></ul>
WORKING CONDITIONS:<ul><li>
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.</li><li>
While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.</li><li>
Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
</li><li>Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.</li><li>
Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.</li><li>
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.</li><li>
Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.</li><li>

The physical environment requires the employee to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes under a covered tent, in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Manger, Nursing-Psychiatry, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Psychiatry will be instrumental in providing exceptional nursing support to clients. This role will directly consult with other providers ensuring the most appropriate plan of care while keeping clients educated. You will be a model for excellent patient care ensuring patients and their families are comfortable when receiving behavioral health treatment.
HOW YOU&rsquo;LL SUCCEED<ul><li>
Consult and collaborate with staff and providers to correctly execute appropriate plan of care.</li><li>
Responsible for intake of all patient appointments to include: vital signs, interviewing patient to determine health history for documentation, preparation of patient for examination and/or procedures, and updating medication profiles.</li><li>
Responsible for reviewing no show charts and determine appropriate follow up.</li><li>
Respond to patient telephone messages and documents outcome in patient&rsquo;s record.</li><li>
Respond to requests for prescription and informs prescriber of the request.</li><li>
Administer medications safely, including injections.</li><li>
Arrange and diligently follow procedures for specimen collection, reviewing labs/test results, and contacting providers when applicable.</li><li>
Complete appropriate prior authorizations and patient assistance forms.</li><li>
Review patient medications, updates medication list, and adds prescription information to the medication list.</li><li>
Complete appropriate documentation in the medical record and complies with state, federal, and departmental policies when sharing/documenting patient care data.</li><li>
Coordinate excellent patient care with staff of outside healthcare facilities or emergency rooms when necessary.</li><li>
Exhibit a non-judgmental, empathetic and a fully supportive approach when communicating with patients, families, and staff.</li><li>
Ensure quality of care by implementing nursing philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing requirements and to other governing company regulations.</li><li>

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE &amp; EXPERIENCE<ul><li>
Completion of an approved program in practical nursing required.</li><li>
Valid unencumbered LPN License in the state of Ohio required.</li><li>
1+ years of recent LPN experience with high degree of clinical expertise required.</li><li>
Experience in outpatient clinic or psychiatry preferred.</li><li>
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.</li><li>
Working knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare.</li><li>
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.</li><li>
Proficient with technology and electronic medical records.</li></ul>
