About the Role:
The Medical Records Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient medical records while efficiently managing the clinical supply inventory. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies related to medical documentation and supply chain processes. The coordinator acts as a liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external entities to facilitate seamless information flow and resource availability. By overseeing medical records, this role supports high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate&rsquo;s degree or higher in Health Information Management or related field preferred.</li><li>
Proven experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical records management in a healthcare setting. Point Click Care Preferred.</li><li>
Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and OSHA standards.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>
Valid Nurse Aide or Medication Aide certification in Texas preferred.</li><li>
Exprience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or long-term care environment.</li><li>
Proficiency with specific EHR - Point Click Care</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Additional training in healthcare compliance and quality assurance.</li></ul>
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.</li><li>
Coordinate the collection, organization, and secure storage of patient medical records, ensuring timely retrieval for clinical and administrative use.</li><li>
Conduct regular audits of medical records and supply inventory to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality assurance.</li><li>
Train and support staff on proper documentation procedures and supply management protocols.</li><li>
Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits related to medical records and supply management.</li></ul>
Skills:
The required skills in Electronic Health Records, Medical Records Management are integral to the daily functions of this role. The coordinator uses EHR expertise to accurately input, update, and retrieve patient data, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and facilitating clinical decision-making. Medical Records Management skills enable the individual to organize and maintain comprehensive patient files, supporting both clinical staff and administrative audits. Together, these skills ensure that the facility operates smoothly, maintains regulatory compliance, and delivers high-quality care to its residents.
