<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Position Summary</h3>
The Convent Administrator provides mission-driven leadership, strategic oversight, and daily operational management of a non-licensed retirement facility serving the Sisters of Mercy. This role ensures high-quality, compassionate care for residents; regulatory compliance; financial stewardship; and a respectful, supportive work environment for staff.
Guided by the mission and charism of the Sisters of Mercy, the Administrator oversees all clinical and non-clinical operations and serves as a key liaison with Sisters, families, healthcare partners, agencies, and organizational leadership. The role requires a balance of operational expertise, strong leadership, and deep respect for faith-based community life.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">

Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h3>
Operations Management<ul><li>
Provide overall leadership and direction to ensure safe, effective, resident-centered care.</li><li>
Direct daily operations of all assigned departments, which may include Nursing, Maintenance, Dining, Housekeeping, Recreation, Pastoral Care, and Support Services.</li><li>
Ensure facility safety, security, infection control, and emergency preparedness.</li><li>
Maintain regulatory compliance, risk management practices, IT systems oversight, and security measures.</li><li>
Serve as the primary contact for emergencies and collaborate with leadership on operational and strategic planning.</li></ul>
Sister Care and Community Life<ul><li>
Provide mission-aligned oversight of Sister care and serve as a primary point of contact for Sisters.</li><li>
Oversee care coordination, including conferences, rehabilitation, transitions, discharge planning, and end-of-life support in collaboration with Pastoral Care.</li><li>
Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers and partner agencies.</li><li>
Ensure adequate staffing, resources, and programming to support the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the Sisters in accordance with Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs).</li><li>
Address concerns promptly, respectfully, and compassionately.</li></ul>
Leadership and Staff Development<ul><li>
Recruit, hire, and retain qualified staff across all departments.</li><li>
Oversee staffing, scheduling, time-off requests, and contract services.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and all applicable state and federal regulations.</li><li>
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and leadership support to promote a positive, mission-aligned workplace culture and professional development.</li></ul>
Financial and Administrative Stewardship<ul><li>
Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets.</li><li>
Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.</li><li>
Provide regular operational, financial, and program updates to organizational leadership.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Qualifications</h3>
Required<ul><li>
Active Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of employment.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or a related field.</li><li>
Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in long-term care or a related setting (healthcare, geriatrics, religious community, pastoral care, or social services).</li><li>
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and experience managing multi-departmental operations.</li><li>
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.</li><li>
Experience with budgeting and financial planning.</li><li>
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.</li></ul>
Preferred<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related field.</li><li>
Experience in a faith-based or mission-driven senior care organization.</li><li>
Familiarity with QAPI programs, electronic health records, and budget management.</li><li>
Prior experience in a healthcare or religious organization.</li><li>
Understanding of the traditions, culture, and teachings of the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Church.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
