 About the Role
 
 
 
 We&rsquo;re seeking a talented and emotionally intuitive Illustrator/Animator to join our creative team in developing high-quality, calming visual content for our mental health awareness app. This role is central to crafting animated experiences that support users through stress-relief exercises, muscular spasm routines, and guided wellness practices. You&rsquo;ll design original characters and environments in a painterly, storybook style and bring them to life through subtle, soothing animations that align with narration and therapeutic intent.
 
 
 
 Key Responsibilities
 
 
 
 Illustration &amp; Character Design
 
 
 Create original character designs in a soft, painterly style (watercolor/gouache-inspired) that evoke warmth and emotional depth
 
 
 Develop expressive yet minimalistic characters suited for mental health storytelling&mdash;gentle smiles, blinks, soft gestures
 
 
 Animation &amp; Motion Design
 
 
 Animate characters with subtle movements (e.g., breathing, blinking, scarf swaying) to complement narration-driven scripts
 
 
 Produce short-form animated videos (1&ndash;2 minutes) for exercises targeting stress relief and muscular relaxation
 
 
 Integrate environmental elements like wind, light shifts, and ambient props to enhance immersion
 
 
 Therapeutic Content Integration
 
 
 Collaborate with wellness experts to visually interpret stress-relief exercises and physical routines for muscular spasms
 
 
 Ensure animations align with therapeutic goals and maintain a calming, non-triggering aesthetic
 
 
 Platform Optimization
 
 
 Deliver animations optimized for mobile and social platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok)
 
 
 Ensure final exports are high-quality, lightweight MP4s suitable for app integration and social sharing
 
 
 Tools &amp; Workflow
 
 
 Work with tools such as After Effects, Procreate Dreams, Toon Boom, or similar animation platforms
 
 
 Manage layered illustrations and transitions (fades, pans, cuts) timed precisely to voiceover narration
 
 
 Who We&rsquo;re Looking For
 
 
 A creative storyteller with a strong portfolio in painterly illustration and minimal animation
 
 
 Someone who understands the emotional nuance of mental health content and can translate it visually
 
 
 A detail-oriented artist who can balance aesthetics with therapeutic sensitivity
 
 
 A collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments with designers, therapists, and developers
 
 
 
 Requirements
 
 
 
 3+ years of experience in digital illustration and animation
 
 
 Proficiency in After Effects, Procreate Dreams, Toon Boom, or similar tools
 
 
 Strong understanding of motion illustration and limited animation techniques
 
 
 Ability to design characters from scratch in a warm, whimsical style
 
 
 Experience creating content for wellness, education, or mental health is a plus
 
 
 Familiarity with optimizing animations for mobile and social platforms
 
 
 
 Deliverables
 
 
 
 1&ndash;2 original character designs in the reference style
 
 
 1&ndash;2 minute animated videos synced with narration
 
 
 Final exports in MP4 format, optimized for app and social media use
