Be part of a team that is making a difference!Job summaryThe Structural Heart Cardiac Tech plays a key role in supporting both the clinical and administrative functions of the structural heart program. This position is responsible for screening patients for procedure eligibility, coordinating and preparing patients for procedures, and assisting with diagnostic testing. The Cardiac Tech serves as a central point of coordination, helping deliver a seamless patient experience from referral through procedure completion.RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Respects patient confidentiality and privacy by maintaining the security of all patient communications, per current HIPAA regulations.</li><li>Review patient charts, verify orders, and screen for procedure eligibility.</li><li>Ensure all pre-visit and same-day requirements are met prior to testing.</li><li>Monitor schedules and patient status to maintain a seamless flow of operations, proactively addressing delays or issues as they arise.</li><li>Responsible for rooming patients, taking vital signs, stocking and cleaning exam rooms and specialty clinic area.</li><li>Accurately reconciling patient medications, gathering pertinent patient information Ie: labs etc. as necessary.</li><li>Retrieve voicemail and triage as appropriate daily.</li><li>Ensures correct prescription by communication with the provider and the pharmacies regarding new prescriptions, medication changes or refills as requested.</li><li>Assist in oversight of medications, ensuring safe and appropriate follow up for patients.</li><li>Provide Patient education/community resource materials as needed or instructed and maintain up to date file for patient materials.</li><li>Obtain Prior authorizations for medications.</li><li>Assist healthcare providers with patient visits including pre op and post op visits.</li><li>Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology to effectively communicate with providers and patients.</li><li>Accurately record patient medical histories, vital signs and clinical data in the electronic health record. (EPIC)</li><li>Communicate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide high quality patient care.</li><li>Complete Prep for Procedure in EPIC to place orders appropriately for procedures with the nurse&rsquo;s oversight.</li><li>Maintains accurate record keeping and ensures current and proper documentation of pacemakers, ICDs, loops and patient care activities using EHR.</li><li>Will educate patients on their medical conditions, devices, symptoms that may indicate a worsening problem, and the possible effects or adverse reactions that may occur with medications.</li><li>Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanation of clinic process and procedures, and answering questions.</li><li>Administer ancillary testing such as ECG, Spirometry as needed, 6-minute walk testing, recording of patient survey results and in office testing results into EMR.</li><li>Maintains current BLS in accordance with SDCA protocol</li><li>Maintain specialty clinic OSHA logs and ensure daily recording</li><li>Acts as a resource for other medical assistants and non-clinical staff.</li><li>Complies with federal, state, local and professional requirements.</li><li>Maintains a safe, clean working environment. Responsible for all clinical supply inventory and supply replenishment, sharps management and general keeping for the entirety of the specialty clinic area.</li><li>Protects patients and employees by adhering to infectious control policies and protocols.</li><li>Performs various administrative duties, record keeping, statistical gathering and data recording as instructed.</li><li>Cross train to other specialty clinic, medical assistant, or technician positions.</li></ul>ACCOUNTABILITY: Collaborates with RNs/LPNs, Specialty Clinic Supervisor and Lead MA Supervisor <ul><li>Report directly to Lead MA for Specialty Clinic and the Specialty Clinic Supervisor for attendance or scheduling issues.</li></ul>Required Skills/Abilities: <ul><li>Excellent verbal communication skills.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to adapt in real time.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.</li><li>Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others.</li><li>Flexibility, promptness, and desire to be a team player.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent</li><li>AAS degree/certificate in medical assisting or cardiac tech strongly preferred</li><li>Current BLS</li><li>2+ years direct patient care and ECG proficiency</li><li>Background check required (includes credit, justice, worker's comp)</li><li>Immunizations up to date</li></ul>PHYSICAL EFFORT:<ul><li>Assist with adult patients in emergencies as needed</li><li>Lifting requirements not to exceed 50Lbs</li></ul>TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:<ul><li>Computer skills</li><li>Telephone and Voice Mail retrieval</li><li>Blood pressure cuff/Stethoscope</li><li>ECG</li><li>Epic EMR, Pacemate, Harmony, Meditech, CHORIO, LabCorp, Quest, and other lab EMR as indicated</li><li>Crash cart and supplies</li></ul>*This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
