Summary:
The Student Transportation Services Supervisor is responsible for supporting the district&rsquo;s student transportation department operations. Responds promptly and courteously to community, school/department and external partner questions and concerns, assists with the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of school bus routes and safe transportation of children to and from school and school activities within established regulations and guidelines. 
The Student Transportation Services Supervisor is a key component of the department incident/emergency response team and will assume general oversight of the Transportation Department in the absence of the Director, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Oversee the daily operations of bus drivers, bus monitors, and/or other department employees as assigned including scheduling, coordination, performance, and evaluation.</li><li>
Evaluates bus drivers, bus monitors and/or other department employees as assigned in coordination with the Director of Transportation to apply objective evaluation criteria to assess each driver, bus monitor or department employee&rsquo;s overall performance during their probationary or annual evaluation.</li><li>
Exercises independent judgement to assess and resolve unanticipated operational challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to transportation services while maintaining safety, compliance, and efficiency.</li><li>
Serves as primary liaison between schools, bus drivers and bus monitors fostering collaboration and addressing concerns proactively to create a cohesive approach to student transportation.</li><li>
Investigates student misconduct on school buses; administers student discipline according to district policy and procedures; coordinates with drivers, building administrators, parents/guardians, and students to resolve misconduct issues.</li><li>
Advocates and promotes the importance of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) plans and implements workshops and trainings for drivers and bus monitors for PBIS.</li><li>
Provides input and recommendations regarding District transportation services.</li><li>
Coordinates responses to emergency transportation situations and vehicle problems and malfunctions ensuring minimal disruption of service.</li><li>
Establishes and maintains positive public relations with parents, schools, and departments; coordinates with transportation department staff, schools and public to resolve concerns.</li><li>
Coordinates and assists with accident and collision investigations; prepares accident reports; and coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders.</li><li>
Ensures driver and operational compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations; assists in the administering of the drug testing program and other DOT driver qualifications.</li><li>
Coordinates and assists with the Driver Safety Program, School Bus Driver Authorization Training and Driver Training Program.</li><li>
Assists in recruitment, hiring and evaluation processes to maintain a high-performing transportation team.</li><li>
Administers the collective bargaining agreement; assists with or conducts investigations regarding alleged misconduct; may assist with grievances and other contract disputes.</li><li>
Maintains and secures transportation-related data; maintains and secures confidential records; maintains transportation data bases; prepares reports as requested and/or required.</li><li>
Represents the district on various internal and external committees as appropriate or assigned.</li><li>
Maintains constructive, proactive relationships with students, parents, and district staff fostering collaborative communication and resolving concerns efficiently.</li><li>
Conducts inclement weather road inspections to assess transportation safety.</li><li>
Use technology for planning, managing, communication, presentations, training and workshops.</li><li>
Attend staff and other professional meetings as may be assigned or necessary.</li><li>
Serves on district leadership teams; works collaboratively with leadership teams and other interdepartmental teams; provides reports and/or data as requested.</li><li>
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding conversations, data and all personnel matters.</li><li>
May be required to drive a school bus as needed to transport students and/or shuttle buses for maintenance.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Education and Experience:<ul><li>
High School Diploma required.</li><li>
Associates degree or higher preferred.</li><li>
Minimum of five (5) years&rsquo; experience in student transportation operations or related field.</li><li>
Minimum of three (3) years&rsquo; experience in a supervisory or training capacity.</li><li>
Substantial experience with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and other computer software programs.</li><li>
Prior experience with student transportation routing software preferred.</li></ul>
Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements:
<ul><li>Valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License Class B or A, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements and air brake restriction removed is required (must be able to fulfill all traveling requirements of this position, including possessing and maintaining a valid license and automobile insurance, when using a personal vehicle for District business).</li><li>
Current and valid Medical Examiners Certificate (DOT Physical).</li><li>
Valid First Aid and CPR certification.</li><li>
Current and valid OSPI Driver/Trainer certification.</li></ul>
Certification in reasonable suspicion determination (or ability to obtain certification within sixty (60) days of employment).
