LOCATION
<ul><li>This position will be based in the Montgomery/Birmingham region for support of a combined cycle plant located in Billingsley, Alabama. (Plant Central Alabama)</li>
<li>Critical support such as post event analysis or controls reviews or tuning at other Southern Company plants, primarily within the Alabama Power footprint may be required.</li>
<li>Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance.</li>
</ul>POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides combined cycle power plant control system design, commissioning, tuning, troubleshooting and post event analysis support and serves as a resource/mentor to engineers, technicians, and systems owners.
Key Position Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Provide high level of process control services to electric generation facilities.
</li><li>Specify control systems and develop control strategies for combined cycle processes and auxiliary systems.</li>
<li>Requires a strong commitment to following Southern Company I&amp;C technical and cybersecurity standards, guidelines, and best practices.</li>
<li>Ensure the proper application and adherence to NFPA 85 Boiler and Combustions Systems Hazards Code.</li>
<li>Direct distributed control systems (DCS) configuration, graphic development, and functional checkout.</li>
<li>Direct the installation activities, commissioning, and start-up of DCS control systems.</li>
<li>Ability to delegate and supervise other engineers, designers, and technicians.</li>
<li>Travel on short notice to provide plant support for process control problems.</li>
<li>Train and develop other employees in the area of process control tuning.</li>
<li>Maintain an awareness of the financial impact of services and support provided.</li>
</ul>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (ABET accredited) or related technical degree</li>
<li>Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Controls, or related technical degree
</li><li>P.E. license a plus</li>
</ul>Experience:
<ul><li>Experience and knowledge of combined cycle boiler generation processes and auxiliary systems.</li>
<li>Extensive experience in root cause analysis of process control issues.</li>
<li>Proficient in utility boiler and auxiliary systems control tuning.
</li><li>Experience in the commissioning of DCS systems is desired.</li>
<li>Experience working with DCS control systems is required.</li>
</ul>+ Preferred system is Emerson Ovation.
+ Experience with the ABB DCS is a plus.
<ul><li>Experience working with turbine controls systems is desired.</li>

Position Summary:
Southern Company is seeking a highly skilled and visionary AI Security Architect to lead the secure design and governance of AI technologies across the enterprise. The candidate will directly support the company&rsquo;s efforts to mitigate real and potential cyber threats to the company&rsquo;s facilities, personnel, technology, operations, and brand &ndash; including critical electric and gas utility infrastructure and its privately owned telecommunications network. This role will serve as the technical authority on AI cybersecurity, responsible for protecting internally developed AI applications, securing models and data pipelines, and implementing guardrails around AI agents deployed by various teams.
This position is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company&rsquo;s information assets. This will be accomplished by:
<ul><li>Establishing and implementing an information security framework and technical architecture.</li>
<li>Designing, developing, and implementing information security solutions.</li>

<li>Competency in APIs (Rest, Graph) and/or JavaScript/JSON/Kubernetes/SQL.</li>
