What a day looks like as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant<ul><li>
Job Tasks</li></ul><ul><li>
Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient&rsquo;s chart.</li><li>
Instructs patients about medications and special diets as instructed by the medical provider.</li><li>
Explains treatment procedures to patients.</li><li>
Prepares patients for examination.</li><li>
Assists the physician during patient exams.</li><li>
Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.</li><li>
Performs basic laboratory tests.</li><li>
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.</li><li>
Prepares and administers medications as directed by the physician.</li><li>
Performs blood collection following established procedures and utilizing universal precautions in accordance with OSHA standards.</li><li>
Removes sutures and changes dressings.</li><li>
Maintain all logs and required checks in accordance with assigned duties. (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.).</li><li>
Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.</li><li>
Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.</li><li>
Completes all mandatory training as required.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Requirements:

Qualifications<ul><li>
Must have active RMA/CMA.</li><li>
Must be CPR certified.</li><li>
Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred.</li><li>
Working knowledge of computer applications; prior experience with electronic medical records preferred.</li><li>
Ability to speak, read and write effectively.</li><li>
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.</li><li>
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines, in a detail-oriented manner.</li></ul>
Working Conditions &amp; Physical Requirements<ul><li>
Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke free environment.</li><li>
Exposure or potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids may be required.</li><li>
May at times work under stressful situations.</li><li>
Handicapped accessible.</li><li>
Good visual acuity and ability to verbally communicate.</li><li>
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.</li></ul>
