<div>Position Summary
The VDC Field Technicians support project teams by translating coordinated digital models into accurate field layout. Working with advanced surveying tools, robotic total stations, GPS, and emerging field technologies, the VDC Field Tech establishes project controls, verifies accuracy, and ensures construction aligns with Southland&rsquo;s design intent. Depending on level of experience, Technicians may focus on learning and assisting with layout tasks, independently managing data and project control, training onsite personnel, or serving as the project&rsquo;s primary technical resource and liaison with contractors and clients.

Position Details

Relationship Building/Management
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with project teams, trades, and general contractors to support project layout and surveying activities.</li>
<li>Serve as a technical point of contact on projects, with Senior Technicians acting as primary liaisons to clients and project leadership.</li>
<li>Share knowledge with peers, mentoring less-experienced team members and contributing to a culture of accuracy and accountability.</li>
</ul>
Workflow Optimization
<ul>
<li>Set up and operate point layout tools and equipment to accurately transfer digital design information to the field.</li>
<li>Establish and verify project control points using robotic total stations, GPS, and other advanced equipment.</li>
<li>Extract, manage and process point data, ensuring accuracy and integrity in CAD backgrounds and digital models.</li>
<li>Monitor field progress, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to keep work on track.</li>
<li>Support quality control by checking accuracy of layout work and documenting results for project records.</li>
</ul>
Technology Deployment
<ul>
<li>Operate and maintain layout equipment and software, including robotic total stations, GPS units, and digital layout platforms.</li>
<li>Stay current with emerging field technologies (e.g., Dusty Robotics, HP SitePrint) and support their adoption on projects.</li>
<li>Troubleshoot equipment and software issues, escalating complex problems to supervisors or vendors as needed.</li>
<li>Senior-level Technicians provide guidance on technology integration and advise project teams on best practices.</li>
</ul>
Change Management
<ul>
<li>Adapt to evolving project needs, layouts, and construction priorities.</li>
<li>Assist in communicating changes in design or project control to field teams.</li>
<li>Senior Technicians lead technical discussions and problem-solving sessions with project leadership and clients.</li>
</ul>
Support and Documentation
<ul>
<li>Maintain equipment inventory, coordinate rentals, and oversee calibration, cleaning, and repairs.</li>
<li>Document layout activities, accuracy checks, and project status to support reporting and transparency.</li>
<li>Participate in technical reviews, contributing insights from field operations to improve processes.</li>
<li>Mentor less-experienced staff by training on proper equipment use, layout techniques, and safety practices.</li>
</ul>
Strategic Planning &amp; Governance
<ul>
<li>Contribute field-level insights to supervisors and project leadership, highlighting risks, constraints, or lessons learned.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for process improvement and share recommendations for future projects.</li>
<li>Senior Technicians influence continuous improvement efforts by tracking industry trends and promoting best practices.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline preferred.</li>
<li>Entry-level (0&ndash;2 years) to advanced (5+ years) experience, depending on Technician level.</li>
<li>A proactive, &ldquo;can do&rdquo; mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative.</li>
<li>Hands-on proficiency with layout and surveying tools, including robotic total stations, GPS, and emerging field technologies.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of construction practices, particularly MEPF systems, and ability to apply digital models in field execution.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Autodesk tools (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Fabrication) and Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate project data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.</li>
<li>Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with trades, contractors, and project leadership.</li>
<li>Commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality control in all field activities.</li>
<li>Senior-level Technicians are expected to have proven leadership in field coordination, client interaction, and advanced technical expertise.</li>

VDC Field Technician

<div>Position Summary
A Superintendent (E9) is the primary jobsite supervisor with operational responsibility for employees involved in the installation, alteration, addition, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on small- to mid-sized ground up projects or tenant-finish projects where complex coordination of multiple subordinate supervisors and crews is required.

Position Details
<ul>
<li>Oversee and manage all electrical production and related craft workers on electrical construction projects.</li>
<li>Partner with project managers on working estimates and take-offs.</li>
<li>Lay out work for subordinate supervisors and lead persons. Coordinate with project manager so that material, tools, equipment, information and appropriate manpower are in the proper place in a timely fashion.</li>
<li>Establish work schedules and man-loading charts.</li>
<li>Interface with representatives of the General Contractor/Owner on day-to-day project scheduling and overall performance issues.</li>
<li>Provide general supervision to subordinate foremen engaged in the installation of electrical feeders; equipment such as pumps, motors, and generators; control and distribution apparatus such as switch gears, relays, and circuit breaker panels; lighting fixtures and outlets; and related connections and terminations.</li>
<li>Monitor work as performed. Direct subordinate supervisors and crews and schedule work according to the pace of the job and other trades.</li>
<li>Handle or oversee the disposition of required office correspondence and administrative paperwork such as daily reports, time sheets/tickets, safety reports, etc.</li>
<li>Assume responsibility for overall project safety performance. Ensure compliance with all Southland safety processes and protocols. Ensure employees are properly trained or instructed in the performance of duties to which assigned. Investigate or assist in investigating and reporting any accident or safety incident involving jobsite employees.</li>
<li>Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Must have advanced knowledge of and experience in all the duties and responsibilities associated with lower-level electrical workers.
<ul><li>Licenses: Journeyman or Master Electrical License and a current Driver&rsquo;s License; must have own reliable transportation</li>
<li>Education: High school graduate, GED or equivalent</li>
<li>Experience: 6 years or more of commercial/industrial electrical experience</li>

Electrical Superintendent

<div>Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring product quality specifications and processes are in compliance with regulatory, company and customer standards and requirements.

Position Details
<ul>
<li>Review shop fabrications for drawing conformance, verifies installation of products and materials and confirms that procedures are being followed and are code compliant.
</li><li>Perform visual inspections of stainless-steel piping, welds, and components during fabrication and installation
</li><li>Verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, and codes including ASME B31.3
</li><li>Inspect weld fit-up, joint preparation, purge setup, and completed welds (TIG/GTAW preferred)
</li><li>Monitor welding activities to ensure adherence to approved WPS/PQR per ASME Section IX
</li><li>Conduct or witness NDE examinations such as VT, PT, and coordinate RT/UT as require.
</li><li>Verify material traceability, MTRs, heat numbers, and proper storage/handling of stainless material
</li><li>Identify and document non-conformances and support corrective actions</li>
<li>Maintain inspection reports and weld logs</li>
<li>Coordinate with fabrication, welding, and project management team</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>High school degree or equivalent.
</li><li>Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT) required (per ASNT or equivalent)
</li><li>Additional certifications (PT, UT, or RT) strongly preferred
</li><li>2+ years of inspection experience in piping fabrication or industrial construction
</li><li>Strong knowledge of stainless-steel welding practices (GTAW/TIG with purge)
</li><li>Familiarity with sanitary or high-purity systems is a plus
</li><li>List no more than six (6) essential KSAs, including system-relevant technical skills.
</li><li>Codes &amp; Standards: ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX
</li><li>Understanding of: Weld defects and acceptance criteria, Orbital and manual TIG welding, Passivation and corrosion control, Isometric drawings and P&amp;IDs
</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations as well as safety policies and procedures
</li><li>Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
</li><li>Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
</li><li>Good communication skills to work with welders, supervisors, and clients
