Job Description: TRAK Machine Tools is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting our Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers in the development of our cutting-edge CNC Machines. The intern will contribute to various aspects of the product lifecycle, learning about design, documentation, and engineering processes in a real-world manufacturing environment.
What you will be Doing:<ul><li>
Assist Mechanical Engineers in developing, designing, and documenting mechanical components and assemblies for CNC machines.</li><li>
Work with engineers to create and modify 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.</li><li>
Support the creation and updating of Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assemblies and kits.</li><li>
Participate in the Engineering Change Request (ECR/ECN) process by updating 3D/2D drawings and related documentation.</li><li>
Assist with the conversion of legacy CAD data from Solid Edge to SolidWorks.</li><li>
Operate and maintain engineering's 3D printer to produce prototypes for design validation and testing.</li><li>
Learn about various manufacturing processes and how they influence design decisions.</li><li>
Participate in team meetings and design reviews to gain exposure to engineering discussions and decision-making.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Currently pursuing or recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.</li><li>
Basic understanding or academic experience with SolidWorks CAD software.</li><li>
Familiarity with or willingness to learn about SolidWorks PDM is a plus.</li><li>
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and basic manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly).</li><li>
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).</li><li>
Eager to learn, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>

The intern will support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, contributing to various stages of product development, and learning about industrial controls, power distribution, and automation in a manufacturing environment.
What you will be Doing:<ul><li>
Assist Electrical Engineers in the design and documentation of electrical control panels, wiring diagrams, and schematics for CNC machines.</li><li>
Support the selection and integration of electrical components such as PLCs, motor drives, sensors, and safety devices.</li><li>
Help create and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical sub-assemblies and complete systems.</li><li>
Participate in the Engineering Change Request (ECR/ECN) process by updating electrical schematics, diagrams, and related documentation.</li><li>
Assist with the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control systems and machine prototypes.</li><li>
Support troubleshooting and debugging of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.</li><li>
Learn about industrial control standards and best practices in machine tool electrical design.</li><li>
Contribute to electrical system prototyping and validation activities.</li></ul>

Familiarity with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical) or general circuit design tools is a plus.</li><li>
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about PLCs, motion control, and sensor technologies.</li><li>
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).</li><li>
