 How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

As an Application Engineer you serve as the liaison between external customers and internal departments, the incumbent works in conjunction with sales representatives, sales team, manufacturing, product management, and product engineering. Being a key technical advisor and product advocate, this role fundamentally contributes to build the best practice in product applications through continuous learning and expanding product expertise.

 Technical Excellence:

 Provide technical support to sales representatives, distributors, contractors and end-users and internal departments
 </li>
 <li>
 Advise and assist field sales personnel and their clients on product technical details, application requirements, etc. to obtain solutions of specific application problems
 </li>
 <li>
 Deliver technical training support to internal and external personnel when required
 </li>
 <li>
 Determine accurate information and calculations as associated with each sales order
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop effective strategies based on thorough analysis of project variables, thus maximizing the likelihood of winning jobs
 </li>
 </ul>

 Customer Support:
 </li>
 </ol>
 <ul>
 <li>
 Serve as the liaison between external customers and internal departments
 </li>
 <li>
 Evaluate needs of the customer and provide technical solutions that best fit the company&rsquo;s product portfolio
 </li>
 <li>
 Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide product support information/ direction from existing manuals, bulletins and guides
 </li>
 <li>
 Respond to quote requests (functional, technical, and pricing elements) in a timely manner
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in pricing special options
 </li>
 </ul>
 <ol>
 <li>
 Documentation and Continuous Improvement
 </li>
 </ol>
 <ul>
 <li>
 Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamlining technical support procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist product development in developing new and/or enhanced products by communicating trends, needs and issues in the marketplace
 </li>
 <li>
 Participate in other duties that relate to the overall goals of the department as assigned
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

 Required Experience
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or related field
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Fundamental knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with HVAC and refrigeration systems, especially with ammonia refrigeration systems
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to read engineering drawings
 </li>
 <li>
 Good understanding of technical and commercial project variables with the ability to proactively initiate action based on that understanding
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong technical aptitude
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 Education &amp; Certifications
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, preferred
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 Travel &amp; Working Environment

 Remote working environment. Occasional office visits
 </li>

 Minimum travel may be required. Less than 5%
 </li>

As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $74,200 - $98,900 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate&rsquo;s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.
