<div>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
<ul><li>Provide general labor skills including but not limited to shoveling, spinning a fiber reel, and pulling cable</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintain and promote a safe working environment for yourself and the other members of your team</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with traffic control and barriers</li></ul>
<ul><li>Direct traffic flow in accordance with local DOT guidelines</li></ul>
<ul><li>Manually rotating a reel containing fiber optic conduit or other material</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with work site preparations to include shoveling, raking etc.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Check oil and fuel levels on trucks and equipment</li></ul>
<ul><li>Manually load and unload materials</li></ul>
<ul><li>Safely utilize various construction hand tools</li></ul>
<ul><li>Pull lashing equipment down cable lines to secure wires</li></ul>
<ul><li>Pull out cable lines and other equipment used in installing cable wires</li></ul>
<ul><li>Drive truck to/from job locations (with the proper licensing requirements)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while working including but not limited to hard hat, reflective vest, and safety goggles</li></ul>
<ul><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul> 


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
<ul><li>Regularly lift and/or move up to 100lbs</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to work in remote or congested traffic areas</li></ul>
<ul><li>Willingness to work outdoors in every type of weather</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to work alone or with crews</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to work safely</li></ul> 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul><li>Experience in operating various hand tools</li></ul>
<ul><li>Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record</li></ul>
<ul><li>Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, DOT, and background check</li></ul>
<ul><li>Available for work requiring travel</li></ul> 


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
<ul><li>High School Diploma or GED</li></ul>
<ul><li>CDL</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prior construction experience</li></ul>
<ul><li>21 years of age or older</li></ul>
<ul><li>Aerial cable installation experience</li></ul>
<ul><li>Underground construction experience</li></ul>
<ul><li>Splicing experience</li></ul>
<ul><li>Certified Pole Climber</li></ul>

Groundman

<div>Key Responsibilities:

Supervise drilling crews and subcontractors during underground construction projects.

Coordinate daily drilling activities, including planning hole paths, selecting drill bits, and managing equipment logistics.

Operate or oversee operation of drill rigs, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Conduct pre-shift inspections and safety meetings; ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.

Monitor drilling performance, adjust parameters as needed, and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Maintain accurate records of drilling progress, materials used, and crew activity.

Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of drilling fluids and materials.

Assist with training and mentoring of drilling personnel.

Enforce company policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and site-specific rules.

Daily Production submission.

Equipment routine maintenance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification a plus.

5+ years of experience in underground construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

Strong knowledge of drilling techniques (e.g., horizontal directional drilling, raise boring, jack and bore, etc.) and underground construction methods.

Experience with underground utility installation, tunneling, or mining preferred.

Proven leadership and communication skills.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Working knowledge of job safety analysis (JSA), hazard assessments, and related safety documentation.

Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces and varying weather.

Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed on active construction sites.

May involve long hours, night shifts, and weekend work depending on project demands.

Must be able to work in underground environments, including confined or low-light areas.

Licenses/Certifications (Preferred or Required):

OSHA 30 or MSHA Certification

Valid Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL may be preferred depending on equipment use)

First Aid/CPR
