If you are interested in becoming a teacher, working in STAR's after-school setting is a great place to start!*<ul><li>The hours: Tuesdays-Fridays 2:15-4:15 pm</li><li>$30 per hour</li><li>Location: Santa Paula</li></ul>Start Date: October 28, 2025Orientation during the week of October 15General Requirements:<ul><li>Experience working with TK-8th grade students</li><li>Must have reliable transportation</li><li>Must be punctual, reliable, enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful and flexible</li><li>Dedicated to children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment</li></ul>Knowledge of:<ul><li>Basic child development principles and practice</li><li>Safe practice in the classroom and outdoor activities</li><li>Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct</li><li>Basic record-keeping skills</li><li>Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary</li><li>Oral and written communication skills</li><li>Policies and procedures of assigned programs and activities</li><li>Operation of a computer and assigned software</li><li>Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy</li><li>Health and safety regulations</li><li>Extensive knowledge of the subject matter</li><li>Commitment to the 2025-2026 school year (intersessions not guaranteed)</li></ul>Essential Duties:<ul><li>Have great communication skills</li><li>Interact and build positive relationships with students</li><li>Demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to educating and empowering youth</li><li>Have extensive knowledge of age-appropriate classroom and behavior management skills</li><li>Assist with daily attendance</li><li>Transport supplies to and from school sites</li><li>Serve as a role model and develop positive social behavior of children, reinforce positive behavior as appropriate</li><li>Operate various office, and audio-visual equipment as assigned,</li><li>Ensure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures, preparing incident reports as required, assisting in maintaining a clean and orderly environment</li><li>Independently lead groups of up to 14-20 students from TK-8th grade</li><li>Attend teacher training where you will be trained in Classroom Management</li><li>Instructors are expected to arrive on time and provide an educational, safe, and enjoyable class experience for students</li><li>Creative, thinking with the ability to do so under time constraints</li><li>Review curriculum during prep time and execute them effectively</li></ul>Physical Demands:<ul><li>Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office and classroom equipment</li><li>Sitting or standing for extended periods of time</li><li>Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students</li><li>Ability to see to read a variety of materials and monitor student activities</li><li>Hearing and speaking to exchange information</li></ul>Environment:<ul><li>Classroom</li><li>Outdoor</li><li>Constant interruptions</li></ul>Other Requirements:<ul><li>Must clear a background check and TB test to be eligible for employment</li><li>Must be able to walk, run, and jump as we are working with children.</li><li>Must complete required Department of Social Services online paid training within 90 days of being hired.</li></ul>* * How to ApplyTo apply, please submit a resume and cover letter letting us know about your experience in your topic and your teaching experience.
