Acts as resource for public and Bar members for inquiries regarding attorney discipline system and related programs. Performs dispute resolution functions as appropriate.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee&rsquo;s position.<ul><li>Responds to written, telephonic and in-person inquiries to the State Bar of Arizona regarding attorney misconduct.</li></ul><ul><li>Addresses consumer concerns regarding attorney conduct.</li></ul><ul><li>Contacts complainants, respondents and other necessary persons to evaluate the allegations of misconduct.</li></ul><ul><li>Conducts prescreening investigation within department guidelines to determine if there has been a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Determines whether charge of misconduct can be resolved through Intake. Resolves charges that would not result in the imposition of a formal sanction.</li></ul><ul><li>Coordinates with and refers inquiries to other agencies and programs, as appropriate.</li></ul><ul><li>Provides education and information to the public and members of the Bar regarding Arizona attorney discipline system.</li></ul><ul><li>Tracks statistical information regarding operation of program and compiles reports as requested by Lawyer Regulation management.</li></ul><ul><li>Coordinates investigative needs and functions with investigative team.</li></ul><ul><li>Meets with Bar Counsel regularly to discuss interaction between Intake and Litigation counsel</li></ul><ul><li>Screens and evaluates potential referrals to Litigation, Fee Arbitration or other related programs.</li></ul><ul><li>Acts as liaison to assigned State Bar committees and other agencies or entities.</li></ul><ul><li>Develops and presents CLE programs.</li></ul><ul><li>In coordination with human resources, hires, trains, develop, and appraises staff effectively.</li></ul><ul><li>May perform litigation bar counsel duties as necessary.</li></ul><ul><li>Performs all other related duties, as assigned.</li></ul>Education and/or Experience RequiredJ.D required. Have a minimum of five (5) years successful practical legal experience; solo practitioner or small law firm experience preferred. Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona.Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Performs all duties in compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.</li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with the Rules of Professional Conduct.</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of dispute resolution methods and techniques.</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent legal research and writing skills.</li></ul><ul><li>Possess the ability to work effectively with staff, Board, Supreme Court, legislation, members, and the public.</li></ul><ul><li>Exercise excellent judgment with action to be taken on cases.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to listen.</li></ul><ul><li>Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Additional hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position.
