This Criminal Justice Technician &frac12; Flex position is one of two positions that support the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU).</div><p>
This position directly supports investigators within their areas of research, criminal intelligence, parcel interdiction, and case development and management. Duties will vary widely from tracking assets seized by the Unit, assisting investigators with case development, researching information pertaining to criminal history checks, as well as administrative tasks such as payroll, travel coordinating, and compiling statistical reports.</p><b><br>

The mission of the SDEU is to interdict and seize alcohol and controlled substances that are illegally distributed throughout Alaska. The Department of Public Safety&rsquo;s mission is to ensure public safety drives our team to take illegal drugs and alcohol off the street and ultimately dismantle drug trafficking organizations. Your role is to support the investigators by taking the weight of many administrative and clerical tasks off their plates, so they can be out in the field where their training and expertise are best used. You will also become familiar with common players in the drug and alcohol trafficking world and will be able to offer information and insight to investigators throughout their investigations.</div><div><b><br>

This position is the Area Research Biologist for the Lower Cook Inlet Management Area and provides an excellent career opportunity leading a team of professional staff to answer fisheries questions that guide management decisions in Lower Cook Inlet. This position oversees multiple fisheries projects including assessing salmon escapement, several video weirs, and commercial catch sampling). Responsibilities include, planning, budgeting, developing, implementing, supervising, and conducting field studies for salmon. The position synthesizes fishery information to evaluate spawning escapement goals, generates salmon forecasts and inseason run projections, and provides inseason data interpretation that guides harvest strategies for commercially harvested stocks. Homer is a vibrant community of the Kenai Peninsula and offers many recreational opportunites including fresh and saltwater fishing, and exploring nearby Kamishak Bay.<br>
<br>
<b>The working environment you can expect:</b><br>
This position will be stationed in Homer. Most of the time, work will be conducted in an office setting. However, during the salmon season (May-August) the incumbent will assist with the deployment and initial setup of fish weirs, conducting stream walks and aerial surveys to assess salmon escapement, and assesing the contribution of hatchery stocks to commerical fisheries.. Overnight travel to field camps for periods up to 1 week in duration are likely to occur 1-3 times annually. The selected candidate will work in an environment that is part of a friendly and collaborative work environment of administrative staff. Fully remote work is not an option; however, a hybrid telework schedule may be an option once probation is complete.<br>

One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.<br>

Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.<br>

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.</p><b><br>
Accounting Technician Level 3:</b><br>
Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.<p>
Substitutions:<br>
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.</p><p>
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.</p><p>
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.</p><p>
An associate&rsquo;s degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.</p></div><p></p>
