<div><div>DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.</div><br>

<div><div>CVH opened in 1868 as the State&rsquo;s public hospital for the treatment of persons with mental illness. Today, CVH is the largest of DMHAS facilities, and includes 17 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). The hospital includes both a general psychiatry and addiction services units. CVH provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and substance abuse treatment, including treatment for pregnant women and persons with dual diagnoses. Specialty areas include geriatric and special services, an integrated network of comprehensive mental health services for older adults and young adult services. The facility also runs the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program which addresses the needs of TBI survivors, including reintegration into community living, independent living skills development, vocational and educational training, psychiatric, cognitive and neurological assessment and treatment, speech and physical rehabilitation as well as individual and family counseling.</div><br>

<div>In the Departments of Children and Families, Correction and Mental Health and Addiction Services this class is accountable for providing psychiatric treatment services to patients with psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse disorders.
</div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES</b></h2>
<div><div><ul><li>Provides 24-hour direct care psychiatric services to specified groups of patients and facility programs as scheduled including on-call and weekend coverage;</li>
<li>Examines, diagnoses and treats patients with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders;</li>
<li>Develops and monitors integrated treatment plans;</li>
<li>Makes rounds and attends treatment team meetings to check on care and progress of patients;</li>
<li>Prescribes appropriate medications;</li>
<li>Prescribes, conducts and administers group, individual and family psychotherapy and other forms of specialized therapy;</li>
<li>Interviews, examines and admits patients to treatment;</li>
<li>Performs physical examinations;</li>
<li>Coordinates treatment with other therapeutic programs;</li>
<li>Provides clinical expertise to treatment teams;</li>

Staff Psychiatrist (40 Hour) (Office/On-Site)

<div>The State of Connecticut, Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all criminal matters in the State of Connecticut. It is an independent agency of the executive branch of state government, established under the Constitution of the State of Connecticut. The Division is composed of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney, located in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, and the Offices of the State's Attorneys for each of the thirteen Judicial Districts in the State of Connecticut.</div><div><br>

<div>Any student of an accredited law school who is within five months of graduation from such law school and who is a certified legal intern pursuant to the rules of the Superior Court is eligible to be appointed as an Apprentice Prosecutor by the Criminal Justice Commission and shall advance to the position of Deputy Assistant State&rsquo;s Attorney upon gaining admission to the Connecticut bar within one year of the date of graduation from such law school. Prior to employment, incumbents will be required to complete a background check. The incumbent may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.</div><div><br>
