The Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is committed to developing skilled, ethical, and professional law enforcement personnel who are dedicated to serving and protecting the people of Idaho. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Curriculum Coordinator/ Training Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development and continual improvement of high-quality law enforcement training programs across the state.
The Curriculum Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the education and training provided to Idaho&rsquo;s peace officers. This position is responsible for designing, evaluating, and maintaining POST curriculum standards using evidence‑based instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles. The coordinator ensures all training aligns with state requirements, current best practices, and the evolving needs of law enforcement agencies.
Working closely with Law Enforcement Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), the Curriculum Coordinator translates operational expertise into effective, well‑structured instructional materials. This includes collaborating with SMEs to organize content, align materials with instructional best practices, and ensure that learning objectives, assessments, and training activities clearly support the intended learning outcomes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
<ul><li>Identify education standards, learning objectives, and competency‑based outcomes using Bloom&rsquo;s Taxonomy and other learning frameworks.
</li><li>Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design) to create effective, engaging, and measurable learning experiences.
</li><li>Collaborate with instructors, subject matter experts, and law enforcement partners to design, revise, and enhance curriculum, assessments, and training materials.
</li><li>Edit and proof curriculum documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with learning outcomes.
</li><li>Evaluate and update training curricula to reflect changes in law enforcement practices, IDAPA standards, Job Task Analysis (JTA) findings, and current adult learning research.
</li><li>Maintain, organize, and distribute current POST curriculum standards, lesson plans, instructor guides, and multi‑modal instructional materials.
</li><li>Create and review assessments (knowledge, skills, performance‑based) to ensure validity, reliability, and alignment to objectives.
</li><li>Conduct surveys, analyze feedback, and use data to drive continuous improvement following models such as the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Framework.
</li><li>Research national training standards and instructional trends to identify innovative approaches for law enforcement education.
</li><li>Facilitate curriculum reviews, ensuring alignment of lesson plans, presentations, and assessments with intended learning outcomes.
</li><li>Coordinate curriculum development workflows, timelines, and project management tasks across multiple stakeholders.
</li><li>Work collaboratively with diverse internal and external partners, demonstrating strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
</li><li>Assist with identifying training needs, facilitating needs assessments, and supporting statewide law enforcement training initiatives.
</li><li>Assist with public records requests.
</li></ul>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Good knowledge of training theory;
</li><li>Experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework and evaluating training;
</li><li>Experience presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations;
</li><li>Experience using a variety of training methods.
</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or learning and development roles.
</li><li>Familiarity with instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), Bloom&rsquo;s Taxonomy, assessment design, and evaluation methodology.
</li><li>Experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing work in a dynamic environment.
</li><li>Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
</li><li>Experience working with SMEs and cross‑functional teams.

SUMMARY: These positions are assigned to the Idaho Army National Guard (IDARNG) Training Center &ndash; Orchard Range, Orchard Fire and Emergency Services (OF&amp;ES), Idaho Army National Guard (IDARNG), functioning within the State of Idaho &ndash; Military Division. The position is located at the Orchard Combat Training Center (OCTC) Fire Station. The OCTC is an Army National Guard (ARNG) Maneuver Training Center (Heavy). The primary purpose of this position is to provide fire suppression for the OCTC and performing related duties.
Area of responsibility involves approximately 171,000 acres of land consisting of 53,500 acres in the impact area and the remaining 117,900 acres of maneuver area. The OCTC/Training Site contains over 140 permanent, temporary, and semi-permanent structures with approximately 754,503 square feet.
MILITARY DIVISION MANDATORY QUESTIONS:
(1) Except for minor traffic offenses, have you ever entered a plea of guilty, no contest, or had a withheld judgment to a felony offense? If YES, please explain on a separate paper and attach it to your application.
(2) Do you certify that I am a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a Foreign National with authorization to work in the United States?
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Must meet the mandatory minimum age (18). Do not provide a copy of your birth certificate.
(2) Must possess a High School Diploma or GED and provide documentation validating the following education. (Attach a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, or GED; unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
(3) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver&rsquo;s license (from any state) and be eligible to obtain a military driver&rsquo;s license. Provide your driver&rsquo;s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. ( Do not provide a copy of your driver&rsquo;s license.)
(4) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable T1 Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable T1, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager is required prior to appointment into this position.)
(5) Must submit to and pass initial and periodic drug testing.
(6) Must be able to drive a 4-X-4 vehicle on rough and uneven roads.
(7) Must present a documented determination from your personal physician stating that you are able to participate in the &ldquo;Arduous Work Capacity Test&rdquo; (as described below.) Must submit to and pass the &ldquo;Arduous Work Capacity Test&rdquo; conducted by OF&amp;ES personnel to be eligible for interview and consideration for employment. Must meet and maintain the fitness requirement at all times.
*Note: During the Arduous Work Capacity Test, applicants must perform the following activities to the minimum stated standard:
<ul><li>3-mile walk while carrying a 45-pound weighted vest within a 45-minute time limit; and
</li><li>Prior to the test event, must sign a Release and Hold Harmless Agreement releasing the Idaho Army National Guard and the State of Idaho from liability in the event of any injury or death; and
</li><li>Prior to the test event, must complete and pass the Work Capacity Test Health Screening Questionnaire
</li></ul>(8) Must have successfully completed the primary NWCG Core Requirement of L-180 Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service, S-130 Wildland Fire Training, S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior or be willing and able to complete within 3-months (90-days) of appointment/start date . Please respond regarding your willingness and ability to complete this training or provide copies of documentation, if applicable.
(9) Must be willing and able to complete Incident Command System (ICS) ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Management System, ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, IS-700: national Incident Management System, An Introduction and IS-800: National Response Framework, An Introduction within 3-months (90-days) of appointment/start date.
MANDATORY EXPERIENCE: Must have 6- months of general experience of the knowledge requirements below. Submit a paragraph for each knowledge requirement below that demonstrates the required experience and describes competence in applying the knowledge. Education and training may be used to offset experience.
(1) Describe your knowledge of fire suppression duties and fuels associated with fires.
(2) Describe your knowledge of hazards associated with fire suppression duties.
(3) Describe your ability to work as a team member under extreme pressure.
(4) Describe your ability to give and follow directions while using good judgment.
(5) Describe your ability to operate 4x4 vehicles off-road and in rough terrain, including a variety of light to heavy vehicles and equipment such as Type IV, Type VI trucks and Water Tender.
