 The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of State Training School (STS) is seeking a Youth Services Technician for Security and Crisis Response to join our team! This is a full-time position with a 12:00 p.m. &ndash; 10:00 p.m. schedule over a 4-day work week, either Wednesday &ndash; Saturday or Sunday &ndash; Wednesday, and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development. In addition to the base pay, there is also a $0.90/hour shift differential for 2 nd shift and a $1.00/hour shift differential for 3 rd shift.
 
 
 The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety of our students and staff and to monitor all areas of the campus.
 
 
 
 Some Duties Include
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Operate as security personnel campus wide.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in the physical control/restraint of assaultive students using Safe Clinch techniques.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain a controlled therapeutic atmosphere while supervising and observing student activities and communications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure proper staff coverage throughout the facility and that safety and security are priorities for both students and staff.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare concise written reports on serious incidents, behavioral concerns, and restraint reports as needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide and organize transportation of students as needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Complete daily rounds as security personnel in cottages, school, and all other student locations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Operate as the first responder to all crisis situations, codes, and calls for help campus wide.
 </li>
 <li>
 De-escalate situations when needed and assist staff and students in working through conflict safely and appropriately.
 </li>
 <li>
 Communicate effectively with all staff members, supervisors, students, and visitors.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain appropriate control of campus while operating therapeutically and maintain appropriate communication with control center (Switchboard) regarding campus movements and operations.

 Provide technical computer and information technology assistance for Iowa Judicial Branch users and operations.

 Respond to user inquiries, diagnose issues, and provide effective solutions.
 </li>

 Perform hardware and software installations, updates, and configurations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prioritize, schedule, and administer preventative maintenance and system updates.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform hands-on technical fixes, including software upgrades, hardware installations, file backups, and system configuration.
 </li>
 <li>
 Record all service requests, troubleshooting steps, actions, and resolutions, update users on request status.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide customer service and training to users on software applications, cybersecurity best practices, and system operation.

 Minimum Qualification Requirements
 
 
 
 The incumbent must meet the minimum requirements to qualify for the position.

 High school diploma (or high school equivalency diploma).
 </li>
 <li>
 One (1) year of experience in computer science or related experience.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 Experience may be substituted with related education on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience.
 
 
 
 Preferred Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Four (4) years of experience in computer science, business systems analysis, management information systems, or closely related field.
 </li>
 <ul>
 <li>
 At least one (1) year of the above with hand-on work in AV equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
