<ul><li>Maintains state highway systems, including filling roadway joints and cracks and patching potholes; flagging and directing traffic; setting up signs, cones, arrow boards, and other traffic control devices; loading, unloading, spreading, and hauling materials and supplies; cutting and clearing brush; removing trash and debris from roadsides; cleaning and clearing ditches.</li>
<li>Maintains, cleans, and repairs state highway facilities, including repairing and replacing road signs and guardrails; cleaning curbs and gutters; painting buildings and equipment; and servicing equipment and machinery.</li>
<li>Operates vehicles to transport employees, equipment, machinery and/or materials, or to warn oncoming traffic, plow snow and spread ice control materials; mows right of way using tractor mower and hand tools; operates auger, trencher, backhoe, forklift, and various trucks (e.g., dump, aerial boom, bucket, and platform).</li>
<li>May repair bridge decks (full and partial) and drains, and clean bridge bents/caps at heights on ladders or utilizing scaffolding.</li>
<li>May install signs, including structural and large signs at overhead positions, inspect truss signs, pour concrete sign footings, weld and cut steel sign posts, and repair and maintain break away and/or overlay signs.</li>

Responsibilities - What you&rsquo;ll do
This is a mid-level employee responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state facilities. Employees work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders; refers serious problems to proper correctional facility staff; promotes rehabilitation by attempting to modify offender&rsquo;s social attitudes/discouraging undesirable behaviors/encouraging worthwhile activities
Supervises visits with offenders; searches visitors/offenders/buildings/grounds for contraband
Performs work in accordance with established rules/regulations/post orders/specific instructions; receives general administrative direction
Performs other related work as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees, both full-time and part-time, are required to attend, and complete the Basic Training classes administered by the Department of Corrections.
By assignment, a position may require:
<div><ul><li>Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid\CPR training during Basic Training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.</li></ul>
