SALARY RANGE: $39,511.00 - $57,438.00
District Court 33, serving Davidson County, seeks a qualified candidate to perform a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks for the Chief District Court Judge and other District Court judges in the 33rd judicial district.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
<ul><li>Employee is one of the public-facing officials in the office and will facilitate communication to, from, within, and between judicial offices, attorneys and the public.
</li><li>Employee will assist in obtaining signatures on orders and judgments from court as well as running reports related to management of cases.
</li><li>This position also requires the employee to order and distribute office supplies.
</li><li>On some occasions this employee may provide support to the Court Coordinator, the Court Manager and the Custody Mediator in the programs managed by the District Court Judges office.
</li><li>Responding to inquiries received by the Judges' office and supporting the judges in the administration of justice will be one of the main duties of this position.
</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of: court rules and procedures; general office procedures; grammar and punctuation; word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform assignments.
 
 
Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
 
 
Ability to: screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquires; operate office equipment such as copier, calculator, fax machine, computer, and telephones.

The North Carolina Supreme Court Library seeks a qualified Library Technical Assistant to process materials, and maintain and update existing collections.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
<ul><li>Retrieve and open mail; check-in materials electronically via acquisition databases; file new materials; prepare materials for cataloging; and label materials with appropriate classification numbers or designations.
</li><li>Shelve materials; assist in inventories; track orders; and verify shipments.
</li><li>Complete minor preservation procedures on heavily used materials; process shipments from the Government Printing Office; and prepare shipments for the bindery.
</li><li>Shift bound volumes of collection; prepare superseded materials for disposition; and move shelving, furniture, and equipment in the library facility.
</li><li>Open and close the library, when so scheduled.
</li><li>Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
</li></ul>This position reports to the Supreme Court Librarian. Work hours are as scheduled, Monday - Friday.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/ Competencies
Knowledge of: acquisition procedures for serials collections and/or basic cataloging practices; detailed filing instructions from various vendors/publishers.
Skill in: organization; basic computer use; use and maintenance of office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and scanners; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to: follow standard library methods and principles; compile data for statistical records; learn specific software programs, including proprietary database and office software; follow very specific instructions and guidelines for filing purposes; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; and lift and move books and furniture.

The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts seeks a qualified Court Reporter - Resident to record and transcribe verbatim, court trials, hearings, and conferences in Superior Court. Work originates from the need to make a true, complete, and accurate record of civil and criminal proceedings as required by law, to provide transcripts, as requested, and to certify to the record's accuracy.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
<ul><li>Record proceedings of court trials, hearings, or conferences by stenotype, or voice-writing methods.
</li><li>Transcribe the proceedings into accurate transcripts for purposes of appeal or by order of the court.
</li><li>Read aloud, as required, statements of participants during court proceedings.
</li><li>Place identifying marks on supplemental materials for inclusion in the transcript.
</li><li>Assure evidence has been properly introduced and marked as exhibits.
</li><li>Take dictation of orders and findings of fact, creating documents necessary for a judge's signature.
</li><li>Maintain file, notes, tapes and records of notes indexed to facilitate later reference and use.
</li><li>Proofread, edit, and certify transcripts.
</li><li>Respond to inquiries from court personnel, attorneys, citizens, and prisoners.
</li><li>Complete activity reports and travel reimbursement forms if applicable. Submit reports to the Administrative Office of the Courts and/or the court reporting manager in a timely manner.
</li></ul>The resident Court Reporter position reports directly to the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge or their designee. 
 
Resident Court Reporters are paid for transcripts in addition to base salary.
<div>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
</div><div>Knowledge of: English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; court rules, regulations, procedures, and operations; legal and various specialized terminology; and transcript format and style.
 
 
Skill in: Transcribing notes rapidly and accurately; and using court reporting hardware.
 
 
Ability to: Take dictation rapidly and accurately for extended periods of time at a speed sufficient to have attained the required certification; accurately transcribe notes; type a volume of material over a sustained period of time within deadlines; maintain confidentiality; and represent the court in a manner consistent with its decorum.
