</p><p><b>Who we are and what we do:</b> The Tennessee Attorney General's Office is a full-service law firm, representing the State in litigation, transactional matters, and investigations and providing day-to-day legal advice to a wide variety of state entities and officials. The Attorney General's Office employs approximately 200 attorneys organized into 21 legal divisions within 6 sections.</p><p><b>
About the Consumer Protection Division</b></p><p>
The Consumer Protection Division engages in the full range of consumer protection, including data privacy, deceptive advertising, antitrust, advertising substantiation, financial disclosures, government imposters, and price gouging, among others. The Division works closely with consumer protection enforcers from other states and the federal government on matters of regional or national impact, including, most recently, serving in the leadership.</p><p><b>
How you make a difference in this role: </b>This Assistant Attorney General (AAG) will engage in investigations and litigation to protect the rights of Tennessee consumers against everything from small-time scam artists to misconduct by the most powerful corporations in the world. Tennessee is a national leader in consumer protection and attorneys in the Division enjoy significant responsibility and numerous opportunities to work on high-profile and meaningful cases enforcing state and federal consumer protection and antitrust laws.</p><p><b>
Key Responsibilities:</b></p><p><i>
AAGs participate in all phases of consumer protection investigations and litigation. Primary responsibilities include:</i></p><ul><li>
Trying cases</li><li>
Collaborating with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within our office</li><li>
Employing the State's pre-suit investigative tools to gather information</li><li>
Interviewing potential witnesses and taking testimony</li><li>
Analyzing documentary and economic evidence and formulating legal theories</li><li>
Obtaining, providing, and evaluating electronic discovery</li><li>
Working with economists and other expert witnesses</li><li>
Coordinating with other state and federal enforcers in joint investigations and litigation</li><li>
Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents</li><li>
Arguing motions; and negotiating settlements as appropriate.</li></ul><p><b>
Minimum Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>
Four or more years civil litigation work experience preferred</li><li>
Consumer protection or antitrust experience preferred</li><li>
Complex commercial litigation experience preferred</li><li>
Strong analytical, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills</li><li>
Demonstrated successful negotiation skills; and Electronic discovery experience</li></ul><p><i><br>

<b>This is an Admin Services Assistant 3 position for the Statewide Preventative Services team. This position is currently located in Knox County.</b><br>

Qualifications</b>
</p><p><b>Education and Experience:</b> Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree AND experience equivalent to three years of increasingly responsible full-time professional staff administrative experience.</p><p><b>
Substitution of Experience for Education:</b> Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub professional, paraprofessional, or professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.</p><p><b>
Substitution of Education for Experience:</b> Additional graduate coursework in public administration, business administration, or other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years.</p><p><b>
OR</b></p><p>
Two years of increasingly responsible professional administrative services experience with the State of Tennessee.</p><p><b>
Necessary Special Qualifications:</b> Positions within the Division of Rehabilitation Services of the Department of Human Services will be required to:</p><ul><li>
Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.</li><li>
Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority.</li><li>
Supply a fingerprint sample prescribed by the TBI based criminal history records check,</li><li>
Submit to a review of their status on the Department of Health's vulnerable persons registry.</li></ul><p><b><br>
Overview</b>
</p><p>Under general supervision, is responsible for professional staff administrative work of considerable difficulty in support of line operations; and performs related work as required. Incumbents in this class function at the advanced working level and may supervise professional and sub professional staff in accomplishing administrative services and related departmental functions. This class differs from that of Admin Services Assistant 2 in that incumbents of the latter function at the working level and perform work of lesser scope and complexity. This class differs from that of Admin Services Assistant 4 in that incumbents of the latter function at the lead level and may supervise.<br>

<p><b>Responsibilities</b>
</p><ul><li>Performs a variety of general staff administrative duties to support program operations.</li><li>
Assists in developing policies and procedures for implementing new or modifying existing administrative services programs and activities.</li><li>
Oversees a program function of significant scope and impact. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of a variety of pertinent records and reports.</li><li>
Serves as liaison between the agency and the general public, persons in other state departments and divisions, officials, and entities outside the organization in order to explain matters of procedure and regulation.</li><li>
Prepares and reviews operating budgets to determine agency needs. Conducts grant administration and monitoring to ensure compliance with grant requirements.</li><li>
Performs human resources administration in one or more of the following areas: employee relations, EEO, recruitment, employee development, and training. May act as the Administrative Services Officer or the Assistant Administrative Services Officer based on the complexity of the administrative services operation and the size of the agency.</li><li>
May supervise staff, write job plans, and conduct performance evaluations. Makes recommendations on staff employment, retention, promotion, demotion, and other human resources actions.</li>
