ReStore Sales Associate / CashierReports To: ReStore SupervisorPosition SummaryThe ReStore Sales Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while supporting the daily retail operations of the ReStore. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers, donors, and volunteers, ensuring a positive shopping and donation experience while supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Steuben County.Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, donors, volunteers, and staff.</li><li>Greet customers and donors promptly and professionally, while assisting with questions or needs.</li><li>Accurately sort merchandise and process customer purchases using the point-of-sale system, ensuring items are categorized properly to support sales tracking and donation reporting.</li><li>Demonstrate interest in and knowledge of retail merchandise, including vintage items, antiques, home d&eacute;cor, and modern furniture.</li><li>Process cash transactions accurately, including receiving payments and providing correct change.</li><li>Balance and count the cash drawer at the end of each shift according to store procedures.</li><li>Follow all organizational and store policies and procedures.</li><li>Support overall store operations by assisting with tasks such as answering phones, assisting customers and donors, merchandising, pricing, cleaning, operating the register, and performing other duties as assigned.</li><li>Contribute to a collaborative team environment in support of the mission and goals of Habitat for Humanity.</li></ul>Position Requirements<ul><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. This role is customer-facing and often serves as the first point of contact and representative of the organization.</li><li>Must be available Tuesday through Saturday 9-5. This part-time postion will range from 10 hours to 29 hours weekly.</li><li>Ability to accurately handle cash, make change, open and close registers, and balance a cash drawer.</li><li>Comfortable using a computer-based point-of-sale system, credit card machine, and answering incoming phone calls professionally.</li><li>Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with customers, donors, volunteers, and staff.</li><li>Ability to perform physical activities throughout the shift, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching above and below shoulder level.</li><li>Ability to remain on your feet for the majority of the shift.</li><li>Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and lift items over 50 pounds with team assistance and appropriate equipment.</li><li>High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: From $16.00 per hourExpected hours: 10 &ndash; 29 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>Employee discount</li><li>Flexible schedule</li></ul>Work Location: In person
