</div><div><b>Job Summary</b></div>
<div>The Bookkeeper will support the firm&rsquo;s daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, billing support, and trust accounting. This is a key role for an experienced bookkeeper who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident in navigating QuickBooks within a fast-paced environment. The Bookkeeper will work closely with firm leadership to maintain financial accuracy and ensure compliance with Maine Bar requirements.<br>
</div><div><b>Key Responsibilities</b></div>
<div><b>Accounting &amp; Financial Support</b><br>
</div><ul><li>Maintain and reconcile the firm&rsquo;s general ledger and financial accounts</li>
<li>Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate entry</li>
<li>Assist with payroll processes, including employee deductions and tax withholdings</li>
<li>Complete monthly and quarterly financial reconciliations and reporting</li>
<li>Maintain secure and accurate financial records for internal review and compliance</li>
</ul><div><b>Billing &amp; Client Accounting</b></div>
<ul><li>Support client invoicing processes as needed</li>
<li>Ensure accurate tracking of time entries, expenses, and case-related financials</li>
<li>Monitor outstanding client balances and assist in collections efforts</li>
<li>Reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports with the firm&rsquo;s case management system</li>
</ul><div><b>Trust Accounting &amp; Compliance</b></div>
<ul><li>Maintain and reconcile attorney trust accounts (IOLTA) in accordance with Maine Bar Rules</li>
<li>Ensure proper tracking and segregation of client funds</li>
<li>Prepare monthly trust reconciliations and bar-compliant financial reports</li>
</ul><div><b>Financial Process Improvement</b></div>
<ul><li>Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline financial workflows</li>
<li>Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring</li>
<li>Support improvements to accounting systems and software as the firm continues to grow</li>
</ul><div><b>Qualifications</b></div>
<ul><li><b>3&ndash;5 years of professional bookkeeping experience required</b></li>
<li><b>Strong, hands-on experience with QuickBooks is essential</b></li>
<li>Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred</li>
<li>Experience with trust accounting is a plus (training provided for the right candidate)</li>
<li>Understanding of U.S. financial operations, including AR/AP and bank reconciliation</li>
<li>High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality</li>
<li>Ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership</li>
<li>Experience with Clio or other legal case management systems is helpful but not required</li>
