Position Summary</b></p><p>
This position requires the Relief Registration Clerk to provide relief for all union positions within the Business Office, as necessary.</p><p><b>
Job Duties</b><b> </b><b>&amp; Essential Functions</b></p></div><div><ul><li>
Perform the functions of the switchboard operator and cashier in accordance with the responsibilities outlined in the related position.</li><li>
Perform the functions of the registration clerk and admitting clerk in accordance with the responsibilities outlined in the related position.</li><li>
Perform the responsibility of the data entry clerk billing clerk and receipt clerk in accordance with the responsibilities outlined in the related position.</li><li>
Greets all patients, co-workers in a pleasant, respectful manner and responds promptly to all requests while always displaying courtesy.</li><li>
Performs all in an independent manner with minimal supervision.</li><li>
Able to recognize and deal with priorities.</li><li>
Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations even if a co-worker, physician or patient is upset.</li><li>
Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.</li><li>
Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.</li><li>
Maintains ethical relationships.</li><li>
Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.</li><li>
Participates in in-service programs.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Required </b><b>Experience </b><b>&amp; Qualifications:</b></p><div><ul><li>
High School graduate or equivalent</li><li>
Computer and data entry experience</li><li>
Knowledge of calculator, copy machine, scanner and fax</li><li>
Experience in working with numbers</li><li>
Switchboard experience</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Preferred Experience &amp; </b><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>
Knowledge of billing requirements</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>

Anticipated Pay Range:</b></div><div>
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH&rsquo;s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.</div><div>

Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Eastern Long Island&rsquo;s Employee Health Services *</li><li>

Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*</li><li>

As part of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) combines the best in academic and community medicine, improving access to advanced medical care for residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island. With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County&rsquo;s first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905. SBELIH provides care to 25,000 year-round residents and expanding to 60,000 summer residents with comprehensive healthcare solutions, including behavioral health, medical-surgical, orthopedics and general surgery, wound care, interventional pain management and GI, advanced ambulatory care, diagnostic, and physical therapy services. The hospital is also a clinical campus and training site for Stony Brook Medicine, with its first SBELIH Psychiatry resident having graduated in 2022.</div><div></div><div><br>
