Strategic Inspections

Job Summary We are seeking an individual with a background in architectural plan review, specification preparation, construction estimation, and/or general contracting to perform inspections and write reports in alignment with the Reserve Study industry. This position does not require an in-depth understanding of cost segregation or accounting but someone with experience identifying, documenting, and quantifying individual building components. From the field, the applicant should be able to identify, assess the condition, and roughly estimate the age of the component. From the desk, the applicant should be able to take the field data and compose an accurate narrative to describe the nature, condition, and replacement criteria of the component. The typical project at Strategic Inspections requires the applicant to collect and analyze data from the field, utilize common construction industry resources to assemble component spreadsheets, and input this data into our software program. Using our software program, you will create a budget (contribution schedule) to accommodate all replacement needs over a 30-year horizon.Field inspection work is scheduled internally during normal business hours. The majority of projects will be in New York City, with only occasional travel required within the region. The report writing portion of this job is virtual with flexible hours.The ideal candidate will be proficient with the ability to acquire product information (specifications), will be familiar with construction/mechanical concepts, and very comfortable with numbers and analysis. You must have great attention to detail and excellent communication skills.Responsibilities<ul><li>Acquire an understanding of the requirements of the project/program at hand</li><li>Identify and select relevant building components</li><li>Be able to gather the essential required information</li><li>Review documents (offering plans, budget reports, engineering descriptions, construction plans (architectural, structural, MEP, etc), photographs, etc.)</li><li>Analyze data</li><li>Adhere to specific industry and/or internal writing standards</li><li>Be respectful to all clients and client representatives</li></ul>Skills<ul><li>Proven experience with construction estimation</li><li>Architectural/Structural/Mechanical system design proficiency</li><li>Basic understanding of accounting, project management, and construction concepts</li><li>Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics</li><li>Comfortable with numbers and technology</li><li>Working knowledge of budgeting software</li><li>Proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Excel</li><li>Great attention to detail</li><li>Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities</li><li>Well-organized and reliable</li><li>BS/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant field helpful</li><li>Reserve Specialist (R.S.), Registered Reserve Consultant (R.R.C.), or other qualification will be a plus</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: $49,925.00 - $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Port Washington, NY 11050
