Position Summary: Straz Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role provides support-level accounting assistance in accordance with GAAP principles. The Staff Accountant serves as a supplemental resource for Straz Center Master Plan project&ndash;related accounting tasks, including lien releases, pledge tracking, and coordination with internal departments. In addition, the position assists with audits, grant submissions, grant and campaign documentation, and supports month-end and year-end close activities by gathering and organizing required financial information. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
Essential Functions:
Project-Specific<ul><li>
Assist with CRA grant submissions</li><li>
Coordinate and support the lien release process, including tracking required documentation, verifying payments, and maintaining lien release records</li><li>
Conduct financial research and documentation retrieval</li><li>
Support pledge tracking and reconciliation related to the Master Plan, including monitoring pledge receivables, coordinating with the Development department, and ensuring proper accounting and documentation</li><li>
Provide support in the tracking and reconciliation of Boundless Campaign contributed revenue</li></ul>
General Accounting Support<ul><li>
Audit show settlements for Straz Center events and prepare the related journal entry to capture all general ledger activity</li><li>
Serve as a fill-in and supplemental accounting resource for all financial and administrative activities, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable</li><li>
Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of transactions for balance sheet accounts, as needed</li><li>
Assist with purchasing card receipts/administration</li><li>
Assist with inventory accounting for the Food &amp; Beverage and Retail departments</li><li>
Support month-end and year-end closing processes</li><li>
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies</li><li>
Collaborate with the finance team to develop and improve internal controls, systems, and reporting processes</li></ul>

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):<ul><li>
Understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting</li><li>
Proficient in general ledger systems</li><li>
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines</li><li>
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills</li><li>
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments</li></ul>
Education and Work Experience:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in accounting</li><li>
1&ndash;3 years of accounting experience</li><li>
Proficiency in accounting software
