Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and experienced in-person School Psychologist to join our team on a contract basis. As a School Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, collaborate with educators and families, and contribute to fostering a healthy learning environment. You will work in a school setting, offering evaluation, consultation, intervention, and prevention services that support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.<ul><li>
Responsibilities: conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.</li><li>
Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).</li><li>
Provide counseling and interventions to support students' emotional and mental health needs.</li><li>
Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address students' academic and behavioral challenges.</li><li>
Offer consultation and training to school personnel on strategies to improve learning environments and student outcomes.</li><li>
Promote positive mental health through prevention programs, crisis intervention, and school-wide initiatives.</li><li>
Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.</li></ul>

Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district</li><li>
Certification as a School Psychologist by Michigan Department of Education</li><li>
Experience in data collection, analysis and interpretation</li><li>
Experience with positive behavior support and with universal strategies on how to support students with behavioral concerns</li><li>
Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of assessments</li><li>
Knowledge of Special Education Law as outlined within the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)</li><li>
Proven ability to develop modifications and accommodations for the general education curriculum</li><li>
Experience and training in administering and interpreting psychological evaluations within an educational setting</li><li>
Proven track record of the ability to develop and maintain positive, approachable and acceptable relationships with school staff, parents, building administrators and the community agencies</li></ul></li></ul></li></ul>

Essential Duties and Responsibilities not limited to:</li></ul> 
<ul><li><ul><li>
Conducts extensive psychological evaluations of students</li><li>
Increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning</li><li>
Evaluate eligibility for special education services (within a multidisciplinary team)</li><li>
Support effective individualized instruction</li><li>
Collects data and provides systematic observations for students experiencing challenges in the school setting.</li><li>
Make referrals and participate in the coordination of community support services</li><li>
Member of school support teams</li><li>
Participates as a crisis team member and provides crisis intervention for students and staff in the advent a situation is warranted</li><li>
Stays current on new developments in the field of education</li><li>
All other duties assigned</li></ul></li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved/accredited program</li><li>
Valid state license or state department of education certification (as needed) as a School Psychologist. (if applicable)</li><li>
Educator Certificate (if applicable)</li><li>
Prefer experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting.</li><li>
Prefer knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.</li><li>
Strong skills in psychological testing, counseling, and intervention techniques.</li><li>
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>
Commitment to cultural competence and diversity.</li><li>
Passion for working with children and adolescents in educational settings.</li><li>
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs</li></ul>
