We are actively scaling from a solo practice and seeking essential hires to help us grow in 2026.Job overviewWe are seeking a Mid-Level UI/UX Designer to join us on a contract basis.The role begins with a specific pilot project: You will partner with the Owner to design the UX/UI for a new website. You will take existing copy and page structures (already defined) and translate them into a polished, responsive visual design ready for development on Semplice (WordPress).Upon successful collaboration on the website, this role will transition into more UI/UX work for 2026.Hours and compensation<ul><li>Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor</li><li>Hours: Flexible (approx. 10&ndash;25 hours/week depending on project phase)</li><li>Hourly Rate: $50&ndash;$55</li><li>Work Model: Hybrid (Must be located in NYC for occasional in-person collaboration).</li><li>Start Date: Immediate / January 2026</li></ul>Key responsibilities1. Immediate focus: website redesign<ul><li>Translate established page structures and Google Doc copy into high-fidelity, responsive web designs.</li><li>Design with development in mind: Create layouts that are visually unique but compatible with the structural logic of Semplice / WordPress (you do not need to code, but must understand Semplice&rsquo;s limitations).</li><li>Create assets, and prepare clean Figma and export assets for the developer.</li></ul>2. Ongoing projects<ul><li>Translate user needs into functional, elegant interfaces for client web and mobile applications.</li><li>Execute end-to-end design flows: from wireframes to high-fidelity mockups.</li><li>Build interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate interactions to stakeholders.</li><li>Maintain design systems to ensure consistency across user journeys.</li></ul>Required skills &amp; qualifications<ul><li>Portfolio: Must showcase both strong marketing web design (portfolios, agency sites) and functional product design (dashboards, apps).</li><li>Figma Mastery: Non-negotiable (Auto Layout, Components, Prototyping).</li><li>Web Fundamentals: Strong understanding of grid systems, responsive breakpoints, and how design translates to CMS platforms like Squarespace, WordPress/Semplice.</li><li>Experience: 3&ndash;5 years professional experience.</li><li>Communication: Ability to articulate design decisions clearly and work collaboratively with the Owner.</li></ul>Values &amp; culture<ul><li>Strong desire to work on mission-driven projects for non-profits and startups.</li><li>Proactive: You take initiative to manage tasks and anticipate needs.</li><li>Adaptable: Comfortable pivoting between branding/web design and deep UX product work.</li></ul>To applyPlease submit your application: https://form.typeform.com/to/KINvI6EbPay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hourExpected hours: 10.0 &ndash; 25.0 per weekWork Location: Remote
