Position Summary:
Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices.
The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</li><li>
Sets up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress.</li><li>
Monitors environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation.</li><li>
Performs nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.</li><li>
Observes patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.</li><li>
Sets up bronchoscopy equipment and assists physicians during procedures.</li><li>
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.</li><li>
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.</li><li>
Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies.</li><li>
Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures.
</li><li>Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business.</li><li>
Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.</li><li>
Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees.</li><li>
Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.</li><li>
Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>
Post High School Specialized Training.</li><li>
Maintains license as RCP through the Oklahoma Medical Board.</li><li>
Previous respiratory therapy experience required.</li></ul>
Special Skills and Knowledge:<ul><li>
Care of the operative as well as postoperative patient.</li><li>
Operation of vital signs monitors.</li><li>
Assessment skills.</li><li>
Principles of Standard Precaution.</li></ul>

Position Summary:
Delivers nursing care in the Post-Operative Care Unit (PACU) to patients entering the postoperative phase of treatment. Responsible for assessing the patient&rsquo;s condition and readiness for discharge.

Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Ensures that the PACU has a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients at all times.</li><li>
Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order</li><li>
Admits the patient to the unit and monitors recovery from anesthesia and surgical procedure.</li><li>
Makes initial assessment and determines the nursing needs of the patient.</li><li>
Follows and implements the physician&rsquo;s orders and performs all required nursing activities.</li><li>
Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety</li><li>
Identifies the patient&rsquo;s physical and mental status.</li><li>
Monitors the patient&rsquo;s medical condition and reports any significant changes to the admitting physician or anesthesiologist</li><li>
Documents accurately in the patient&rsquo;s medical record the care received and the progress in the recovery process</li><li>
Assures that the patient fits the documented criteria prior to discharge.</li><li>
Gives patients and family members emotional support as necessary.</li><li>
Performs other duties s assigned or requested.</li><li>
Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</li><li>
