Overview: 
The Welder I at Sure Steel, Inc. is an entry-level position responsible for performing basic welding tasks to support the fabrication of steel components. This role involves following detailed instructions, operating welding equipment safely, and ensuring high-quality welds. The Welder I will work under the supervision of experienced welders and supervisors to develop their skills and contribute to the successful completion of projects.<div>
Key Responsibilities: 
1. Welding Operations: 
<ul><li>Perform basic welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, on steel components.</li><li>Follow welding procedures and specifications to ensure high-quality welds.</li><li>Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to company standards and guidelines.</li></ul>
2. Material Preparation: 
<ul><li>Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning surfaces.</li><li>Set up welding equipment and select appropriate settings based on material and project requirements.</li><li>Assist in the layout and assembly of components to be welded.</li></ul>
3. Quality Control: 
<ul><li>Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.</li><li>Identify and repair defects in welds, such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of welding activities and quality checks.</li></ul>
4. Safety and Compliance: 
<ul><li>Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li><li>Participate in safety training and drills to stay current with best practices.</li><li>Report any safety incidents or near-misses to the supervisor immediately.</li></ul>
5. Equipment Maintenance: 
<ul><li>Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment.</li><li>Ensure welding tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.</li><li>Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.</li></ul>
6. Team Collaboration: 
<ul><li>Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and shop personnel to support project needs.</li><li>Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of tasks and responsibilities.</li><li>Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.</li></ul></div><div> 
Qualifications 
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in a related field is a plus. Candidates with relevant work experience in a similar role or environment may be considered in lieu of formal education or certification.</li><li>Completion of a certified welding program or vocational training in welding is preferred.</li><li>Previous experience in welding or a related field is preferred but not required.</li><li>Familiarity with basic welding techniques and equipment operation.</li><li>Basic understanding of welding processes, techniques, and safety standards.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.</li><li>Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various positions (standing, bending, lifting) for extended periods.</li><li>Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs.).</li><li>Strong communication and teamwork skills.</li><li>Willingness to learn and develop welding skills through on-the-job training.</li></ul></div>
