In-Home Academic Mentor (Private Instruction) Sylvan Learning &ndash; Echo Park/Los Feliz About the Opportunity Sylvan Learning provides personalized, in-home academic support for families seeking a flexible and customized approach to instruction. This role centers on delivering high-quality, one-on-one instruction in students&rsquo; homes. The service combines Sylvan&rsquo;s structured learning programs with individualized academic support tailored to each student. We are seeking educators who are comfortable working independently, can adapt to a range of academic needs, and can represent Sylvan with professionalism in a home setting. What You&rsquo;ll Do  Deliver one-on-one instruction in students&rsquo; homes using Sylvan&rsquo;s structured programs and customized academic support  Support students in Math (Algebra through Calculus), ELA/Writing, and/or Test Prep (SAT/ACT)  Adapt sessions based on student progress and goals  Maintain professionalism, organization, and punctuality  Work in cooperation with an Academic Advisor to share detailed notes about each session What We&rsquo;re Looking For  Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required (Education or related field preferred)  2+ years of tutoring or teaching experience  Strong proficiency in either high school-level math or ELA/Writing  Experience with standardized test prep (SAT/ACT&mdash;math and/or verbal) strongly preferred  Ability to work independently  Comfortable using iPad-based instructional tools  Professional presence and strong communication skills  Reliable transportation for in-home sessions Compensation &amp; Structure Starting at $35/hour, based on experience and subject expertise Flexible scheduling Consistent student placements&mdash;no client sourcing required Why This Role Stands Out  Opportunity to specialize in Math or ELA/Writing  Work with high school students on advanced coursework and test prep  One-on-one instruction&mdash;no group management  Be part of a growing, specialized in-home tutoring division To Apply Please submit your resume, subjects of specialization (Math, ELA/Writing, or both), preferred grade levels, and availability.
