<div>As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Synapse Analytics, you'll be an infrastructure leader, driving the development and strategy for our complex and critical hybrid environments. You'll take ownership of major infrastructure initiatives that span both on-premises data centers and public cloud platforms, contributing significantly to the technology strategy and ensuring the high quality, scalability, and security of our applications. You'll also play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding less experienced DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across all infrastructure disciplines.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Lead the discovery, architecture, and delivery of major hybrid infrastructure initiatives and complex systems.</li><li>
Design and advocate for significant architectural and infrastructure decisions impacting both cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy and engineering needs.</li><li>
Set and enforce high standards for DevOps practices, best practices, and security principles across the team, leading by example.</li><li>
Mentor and coach DevOps Engineer I and II colleagues, providing deep technical guidance, fostering their growth, and leading strategic discussions on hybrid cloud strategy.</li><li>
Solve highly complex, ambiguous, and strategic infrastructure challenges that have a broad impact on the organization's products and services.</li><li>
Collaborate extensively with senior leadership, engineering, and product teams to define requirements, evaluate feasibility, and deliver robust, integrated solutions.</li><li>
Identify and address critical security threats, performance bottlenecks, and single points of failure across the entire infrastructure stack.</li><li>
Proactively identify, prioritize, and lead efforts to address technical debt and process inefficiencies in the infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>
Research, evaluate, and propose new infrastructure strategies and technologies to improve the product offering and development processes.</li><li>
Act as a primary point of contact for complex, high-severity infrastructure-related incidents, leading diagnosis and resolution.</li><li>
Clearly and regularly communicate complex infrastructure strategies, trade-offs, and cost models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li></ul><ul><li>
BS/BA, MS, or PhD equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>
5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a senior infrastructure role.</li><li>
Excellent experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale, high-availability infrastructure across both cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-premises environments, with deep expertise in container orchestration platforms like RKE2 and OpenShift.</li><li>
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.) and security concepts (Network Security, application security, cryptography).</li><li>
Solid understanding of the technical aspects of software development, system architecture, and how the Linux operating system works.</li><li>
Excellent troubleshooting skills, including solving complex system problems and navigating business ambiguities in hybrid settings.</li><li>
Deep expertise and extensive experience in DevOps methodologies and frameworks (e.g., CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code).</li><li>
Expert knowledge and experience in defining infrastructure vision, strategy, and roadmaps for hybrid environments.</li><li>
Expert understanding of the end-to-end product development lifecycle.</li><li>
Strong understanding of business principles, KPIs, and financial modeling related to infrastructure costs (e.g., CapEx vs. OpEx).</li><li>
Deep knowledge of the AI/ML industry and relevant market trends.</li><li>
Extensive experience in leading and facilitating cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Strong experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.</li></ul></div>

Senior DevOps Engineer

<div>As a DevOps Engineer II at Synapse Analytics, you will be a key individual contributor responsible for guiding the development and maintenance of robust, scalable, and high-value hybrid infrastructure for our core products. You'll move beyond assisting with infrastructure tasks to taking ownership of more complex deployment components across both cloud and on-premises environments, contributing significantly to our infrastructure roadmap and strategy. You will also begin to mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Design, implement, and manage infrastructure as code for significant product features across cloud and on-premises systems.</li><li>
Ensure the reliability and feasibility of infrastructure designs by collaborating closely with design and engineering teams.</li><li>
Optimize CI/CD pipelines for maximum value, speed, and alignment with strategic goals for hybrid deployments.</li><li>
Collaborate closely with stakeholders, designers, and the development team to define infrastructure requirements and deliver integrated software solutions.</li><li>
Clearly and regularly communicate infrastructure decisions, progress, and challenges with management and cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Lead infrastructure review sessions for peers and junior DevOps engineers, providing in-depth constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to high-quality standards.</li><li>
Research and stay up-to-date with the latest market trends and technologies, actively proposing and evaluating new opportunities for the company's hybrid infrastructure.</li></ul><ul><li>
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.</li><li>
Minimum 2 years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or similar infrastructure-focused role.</li><li>
Excellent knowledge and experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration, particularly with Kubernetes, RKE2, and OpenShift.</li><li>
Excellent knowledge and experience building and managing production infrastructure in cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and on-premises environments.</li><li>
Extensive experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).</li><li>
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.) and security concepts.</li><li>
Solid understanding of the technical architecture of the products you support and how the Linux operating system works.</li><li>
Excellent troubleshooting skills for resolving deployment ambiguities and infrastructure conflicts.</li><li>
Excellent knowledge and extensive experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).</li><li>
Excellent understanding of the complete software development lifecycle, from discovery and design to development and deployment.</li><li>
