Rate of Pay: $77.01/hour + DOE + Shift Differential (Base Pay of $68.46 includes 12.5% per diem premium)

Summary

Provides nursing services to patients admitted to the hospital intensive care unit by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Assesses physical and psychosocial needs of patients.</li>
<li>Plans individual care of patient and documents care plan.</li>
<li>Implements and evaluates individual plan of care.</li>
<li>Evaluates effectiveness of interventions.</li>
<li>Identifies and provides education to patient and/or significant other.</li>
<li>Coordinates resources for complete and effective patient care.</li>
<li>Possesses effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.</li>
<li>Utilizes equipment properly.</li>
<li>Participates in departmental growth and development.</li>
<li>Pursues professional growth.</li>
<li>Follows patient care standards.</li>
<li>Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, an allay apprehension.</li>
<li>Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.</li>
<li>Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient, as appropriate.</li>
<li>Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.</li>
<li>Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient&rsquo;s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.</li>
<li>Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.</li>
<li>Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.</li>
<li>Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.</li>
<li>Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.</li>
<li>Makes beds, bathes and feeds patients.</li>
<li>Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.</li>
<li>Ability to work standby.</li>
<li>Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.</li>
<li>Complies with System policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Other duties as may be assigned.</li>

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing. The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

Current California Registered Nurse Licensure

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certificate
<ul>
<li>Upon hire</li>
</ul>
Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS certification) -
<ul>
<li>Within 3 months of hire into job</li>
</ul>
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Employees that have never been certified must take a live initial AHA certification class. Employees with recently expired certifications will be enrolled in Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)
<ul>
<li>Within 3 months of hire into job</li>
</ul>
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Bio-Chemo
<ul>
<li>Within 6 months of hire into job</li>
</ul>
Other Experience and Qualifications:
<ul><li>One year full time ICU experience as an RN.</li>
</ul>
