Rate of Pay: $29.00/hour + DOE + Shift Differential (Base Pay of $25.78 includes 12.5% per diem premium)

Summary

Performs direct patient care activities and related clerical and non-technical duties. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment. Performs cardiac monitoring for patients on telemetry. Performs receptionist duties on the patient care unit. Functions as communication source, prepares and compiles records in unit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employees working in ICU:
<ul>
<li>Employees Assists with ECG recording during code blues or cardioversions</li>
<li>Checks for outdates on crash cart and par supplies.</li>
</ul>
Employees working in ICU and/or MedSurg:
<ul>
<li>Assists in the preparation of patient rooms and beds.</li>
<li>Assists in and accompanies patient if necessary in the admission, transfer and discharge procedure.</li>
<li>Receives report from nurse at beginning of shift.</li>
<li>Performs personal direct care and general services to and for patients.</li>
<li>Performs routine treatment procedures.</li>
<li>Assists licensed staff in complicated treatment procedures.</li>
<li>Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure and intake/output measurements.</li>
<li>Prepares patient for meals, serves and removes trays, assists with meals or feeds patient.</li>
<li>Answers call light; attends to patients.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean and safe environment especially in patient rooms.</li>
<li>Assists patients with handling and care of clothing and other personal property.</li>
<li>Collects and transports specimens.</li>
<li>Practices cost effective use of supplies.</li>
<li>Follows established procedure for obtaining, charging and return of patient equipment to designated department.</li>
<li>Performs cardiac monitoring for patients on telemetry.</li>
<li>Provide ECG monitoring and notifies RN of any changes in rhythm.</li>
<li>Records and measures ECG tracings every 4 hours.</li>
<li>Maintains patient records.</li>
<li>Prepares charts for admissions, transfer and discharge.</li>
<li>Compiles and distributes reports.</li>
<li>Maintains appropriate report sheets (Lab, Census).</li>
<li>Requisitions supplies.</li>
<li>Answers questions from a variety of people (patients, family visitors, visitors).</li>
<li>Answers telephones and gives information to callers or routes as appropriate.</li>
<li>Uses interpersonal communication strategies that are perceived as positive.</li>
<li>Identifies and reports patient related or staff related problems.</li>
<li>Enters and retrieves data from computer, operates various business machines.</li>
<li>This position may require on-call and call-back dependent on unit census.</li>
<li>Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.</li>
<li>Complies with System policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Other duties as may be assigned.</li>

Education and Experience

None

Licenses, Certifications

Required: CPR certification within six months of employment.

Other Experience/Qualifications

Required:

<li>Knowledge of medical terminology</li>
<li>Satisfactory completion of a basic arrhythmia course within 6 months of employment</li>
</ul>
Preferred:
<ul>
<li>Previous acute care experience and current enrollment in an accredited nursing school</li></ul></div>
