Minimum Qualifications

Job Summary
 
The Executive Director of Strategic Communications serves as the College's senior communications strategist and provides leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive internal and external communications strategies that advance the mission, vision, strategic plan, and institutional priorities of Southwest Tennessee Community College.
 
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement & Communications, the Executive Director is responsible for protecting and enhancing the College's reputation, strengthening stakeholder engagement, increasing institutional visibility, and supporting strategic enrollment, workforce development, student success, community engagement, and fundraising objectives through effective communications and storytelling.
 
The Executive Director serves as a trusted communications advisor to the President, Vice President, and Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for executive communications, media relations, crisis communications, public relations, institutional messaging, content strategy, and brand management. The position provides leadership for integrated communications efforts across all college divisions and ensures alignment of messaging, communications priorities, and brand standards across all platforms and audiences.

Job Duties
 
Strategic Communications Leadership
 
Develops and implements a comprehensive annual strategic communications plan aligned with the College's strategic priorities, enrollment goals, workforce development initiatives, and institutional advancement objectives.
 
Provides strategic leadership for all internal and external communications activities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with institutional priorities.
 
Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and communications metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness, media impact, audience engagement, and institutional visibility.
 
Oversees the development of annual communications reports and executive dashboards demonstrating communications outcomes and organizational impact.
 
Executive Communications
 
Serves as principal communications advisor to the President, Vice President, and Executive Leadership Team regarding communications strategy, public messaging, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement.
 
Develops executive communications including speeches, presentations, talking points, correspondence, opinion editorials, video messaging, public remarks, and leadership communications for the President and senior administrators.

Integrated Communications and Storytelling
 
Oversees development of integrated communications campaigns across print, digital, social media, radio, television, web, and emerging platforms.
 
Collaborates with academic and administrative divisions to identify and promote impactful stories related to student achievement, workforce development, community engagement, grants, partnerships, fundraising efforts, and institutional success.
 
Develops compelling strategic messaging, feature stories, press releases, executive communications, publications, and marketing content that effectively communicates the College's impact.
 
Coordinates media coverage and communications support for College events, initiatives, announcements, and community engagement activities.
 
Leadership and Team Management
 
Manages and supervises a multifaceted communications team, including marketing, digital media, social media, graphic design, content creation, photography, videography, and related communications functions.

Minimum Qualifications
 
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Higher Education Administration, or a related field required.
 
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, public relations, media relations, marketing, public affairs, higher education communications, or a related field.
 
Minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory or leadership experience managing communications professionals, projects, budgets, or integrated communications initiatives.
 
Preferred Qualifications

Job Summary
 
The Writing Center Coordinator provides leadership and administrative oversight for the Northeast State Writing Center, coordinating services that support the development of writing, research, and communication skills for students across all instructional modalities. The Coordinator manages the daily operations of the Writing Center, supervises tutors, develops training programs, collaborates with faculty and academic divisions, and assesses the effectiveness of Writing Center services to improve student success.
 
The Coordinator promotes best practices in writing instruction, academic support, and college readiness while fostering a culture that values writing across the curriculum. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Coordinator teaches six (6) credit hours annually to remain actively engaged in instruction and support institutional teaching and learning initiatives. Writing Center Coordinator

The SSS Academic Coordinator is responsible to the TRIO Director. The primary purpose is to recruit, counsel, arrange academic and other support services for eligible DSCC students who are first generation college and/or low-income students in order for them to successfully complete their degree.
 
Student Support Services is part of the federal TRIO programs through the Department of Education. The program is designed to help first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities progress through college to earn a degree. The services provided include but are not limited: advising, tutoring, advice and assistance in course selection, provide information on financial aid, financial literacy education, and assist students in transferring to a four-year institution.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
Participate in the recruitment of participants that are first generation and/or low income or have a disability.
 
Develop and complete individual plans for each participant and update as needed.
 
Provide counseling in careers, academics, financial aid, and personal matters as needed.
 
Responsible for monitoring and recording each participant’s academic progress.
 
Provide participants assistance on college enrollment, financial aid, scholarships, and FAFSA.
 
Provide students assistance in transferring to a four-year institution. Conduct on-site visits to four-year institutions for students that are going to transfer.
 
Manage participant files (paper and electronic) to document academic, counseling, tutoring, advising, follow-up, and tracking for annual reporting requirements per the grant.
 
Assist the Academic Specialist with tutoring schedule when needed.
 
Serve as a Master Advisor for SSS participants
 
Other duties as assigned by the director per grant needs.
 
Required Qualifications: 
Demonstrates knowledge in working with a variety of disadvantaged populations, especially high school and college students, and their respective instructors and staff for one to three years.
 
Ability to work well with traditional and nontraditional college students and their instructors.
 
Interpersonal skills to identify, recruit, and provide services to SSS participants.
 
Understanding and knowledge of academic curriculum that will lead students to postsecondary school completion.
 
Knowledge of postsecondary enrollment requirements, scholarship requirements, financial aid and FAFSA.
 
Ability to provide counseling or able to make necessary referrals when needed.
 
Written skills to maintain accurate records.
 
Basic computer skills.
 
Working Conditions : 
Travel may be required for college tours. The Academic Coordinator should be able to after hours if a student need arises. Working conditions will include office work and group trips for college visits.

SSS Academic Coordinator

The Men's Head Baseball Coach will develop a highly competitive men’s baseball program, consistent with the student athlete philosophy of TCCAA/NJCAA Division I, which generates college and community enthusiasm and support.
 
This is a 10-month position (August through May) located on the Columbia, TN Campus.
 
Essential Functions
 
Serve as men’s baseball coach including recruiting, organization of practice, game scheduling, and promotion of the program.
 
Works within approved budgets and manage scholarship, operating, travel and fundraising budgets for the program.
 
Maintains appropriate record keeping for program including, but not limited to: up-to-date statistical reports for NJCAA; student-athlete graduation and transfer statistics; files of student-athletes’ records to assist with eligibility; meets Columbia State and NJCAA deadlines for statistics, eligibility, etc.
 
Monitor men’s baseball student-athlete progress including class attendance, academic performance, personal adjustment and financial aid management.
 
Coordinate and monitor student study, athletic tutoring and classroom performance for retention and graduation of student athletes.
 
Advise members of baseball team with registration, class selection and programs of study.
 
Participate in athletic fundraising and community service events.
 
Adhere to all Columbia State, TCCAA and NJCAA rules and policies.
 
Implement youth camps.
 
Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, offices and spectators.
 
Assist with coverage of the Wellness Center staff during morning operating hours.
 
Work closely with staff to schedule personal and team travel.

Job Summary
 
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled HVAC maintenance.
 
Job Duties
 
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance via an Automated Preventative Maintenance Program.
 
Handle unscheduled HVAC problems, adjustments & repairs as necessary.
 
Assist other Maintenance Employees in day-to-day maintenance, renovations, and upkeep of buildings.
 
Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
High school diploma or equivalent
 Valid driver’s license
 EPA certified and licensed
 Two years of relevant education or experience
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
Completed HVAC apprenticeship
 Electrical license
 Experience with physical plant chiller and boiler
 Experience with Metasys operating system
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
 Ability to use Energy Management System

The Dual Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting all operational aspects of the Dual Enrollment program. The Coordinator supports admissions, registration, enrollment changes, student advising, outreach activities, and compliance-related processes while supporting institutional goals for enrollment growth, student success, and community partnerships.
 
Job Duties
 
Student Admissions and Enrollment
 Process dual enrollment applications and admissions.
 Verify student eligibility requirements in accordance with institutional and state guidelines.
 Maintain accurate student records and documentation.
 Communicate admission status and enrollment requirements to students and school partners.
 Registration and Enrollment Management
 Coordinate registration for dual enrollment students.
 Process course adds, drops, withdrawals, and schedule changes within established deadlines.
 Monitor enrollment activity and resolve registration issues.
 Ensure enrollment records are accurate and compliant with institutional policies.
 Student Advising and Academic Pathways
 Advise students regarding course selection, academic pathways, and degree programs.

 Communication and Customer Service
 Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the Dual Enrollment inbox.

 Facilitate dual enrollment registration days at partner high schools and college campuses.

 Build and maintain strong relationships with school district and high school partners.
 Verification, Certification, and Billing Support
 Assist with verification and certification processes necessary for tuition billing, state reporting, and funding requirements.
 Support enrollment audits and compliance reviews.
 Collaborate with finance, records, and academic departments to ensure data accuracy.
 Compliance and Records Management
 Maintain confidential student records in accordance with FERPA regulations.
 Ensure compliance with Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC), and institutional policies.
 Assist with reporting requirements and data collection efforts.
 Program Assessment and Continuous Improvement
 Assist with data collection, program evaluation, and reporting activities.

Minimum Qualifications
 
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution (Bachelor's degree preferred).
 
Two (2) years of experience in higher education, K-12 education, enrollment management, student services, advising, admissions, or a related field.
 
Demonstrated experience using student information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
 
Experience working with dual enrollment, early college, or secondary-postsecondary partnerships.
 
Knowledge of Tennessee dual enrollment policies, TSAC grant programs, and TBR regulations.
 
Experience delivering presentations and facilitating group events.
