POSITION SUMMARY:We are looking for a motivated Fuel Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a wide range of accounting tasks, including managing financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with financial report preparations. This individual should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Assist with maintaining the general ledger, various sub-ledgers and preparation of various tax reports</li><li>Perform monthly sales and general ledger closing, including journal entries.</li><li>Preparation of various balance sheet schedules and P&amp;L statements.</li><li>Assist with monthly and year-end close processes.</li><li>Manage fuel resale by processing payments and orders</li><li>Manage and reconcile fuel invoices for completeness and accuracy</li><li>Match delivery information to invoices, investigate exceptions by communicating with carriers to determine corrective action</li><li>Review invoice pricing to determine billing accuracy, investigate excepting by communicating with suppliers to determine corrective action</li><li>Collaborate with the senior accounting staff to support various accounting projects and activities.</li><li>Reconcile various general ledger accounts monthly</li><li>Help with internal and external audit procedures.</li><li>Stay current with industry trends and changes in accounting standards.</li><li>Support in maintaining financial controls and procedures.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS:The ideal candidate will have:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.</li><li>At least 2 years of experience in an accounting role.</li><li>Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).</li><li>Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.</li><li>Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports.</li><li>Excellent communication and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation or working towards certification.</li><li>Experience working in a multi-company environment.</li><li>Experience with shared services accounting.</li></ul>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:N/ATRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:N/ALANGUAGE SKILLS:Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required to read and interpret documents, instructions, and manuals, as well as to communicate effectively.REASONING ABILITY:The ability to apply logical thinking to execute instructions and resolve problems is crucial.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Applicants must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The role requires regular standing, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. The incumbent must also be able to perform duties in varying work conditions, such as confined spaces.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the role may occasionally require exposure to an environment containing unrestricted second-hand tobacco smoke.
