</p><p><b>GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION</b>: Perform all responsibilities of the reception area, which primarily involves; checking in and checking out patients, scheduling new and follow-up appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments due at time of service.</p><p>
</p><p><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
</b></p><ul><li>Answer telephones, schedule appointments and redirect to appropriate departments as needed.</li><li>
Schedule and reschedule appointments for patients with attention to all insurance rules and limitations per physician preferences, including physical therapy appointments.
</li><li>Confirm appointments in advance; reach out to patient when necessary.</li><li>
Prepare schedules for clinic and identify any issues prior to visit.</li><li>
Greet patients, check-in and help patients complete necessary intake forms.</li><li>
Confirm, capture, and correct any changes in patient demographics and insurance.</li><li>
Verify insurance and obtain benefits as needed; identify remaining deductible amount and/or copay to collect.</li><li>
Collect patient payment according to the patient&rsquo;s benefits and as noted within the EHR and other applicable software.</li><li>
Collect and scan patient&rsquo;s insurance card and photo ID.</li><li>
Mail no show letters daily.</li><li>
Review daily superbills for completion from clinic team, make edits necessary to collect proper time of service payment due at check-out.</li><li>
Balance payments received and prepare deposit daily.</li><li>
Complete all scheduling tasks, messages, requests, referrals, and faxes.</li><li>
Return voicemails as well as making second and third attempts to patients who have left voicemails.
</li><li>Provide EOB to patients and thoroughly explain balance as needed.</li><li>
Fax DWC forms to proper recipients.</li><li>
Collate, sort and identify a variety of medical information for scanning/queuing into EMR system</li><li>
Sort faxes and assist with any fax failures and distributing to appropriate departments as needed.
</li><li>Assist with Release of Information requests by completing in office or sending to third party accordingly.</li><li>
All other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>

</p><p><b>GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION</b>: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, including casting, bracing and performing other duties as assigned. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic.
</p><p><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b>:
</p><ul><li>Assists physician with treating patient as directed. Prepares injections, takes vital signs, completes H&amp;P questionnaire, and facilitates suture removals/dressing changes.
</li><li>Apply casts, splints and DME as needed to keep clinic flow in conjunction with Cast Technician/Orthopedic Technician.
</li><li>Issues prescriptions, physical therapy orders, home exercises, work restrictions, diagnostic orders and other orders per physician instruction and assists in patient education.</li><li>
Maintain a timely and safe clinic that focuses on efficient care with respect to the patient&rsquo;s privacy and dignity. Ensure clinic runs efficiently within your power. Leave clinic as you would want others to leave it for you. Prepare exam rooms, instruments, linens and perform sharps container check on a per clinic basis.
</li><li>Work closely with staff in assigned musculoskeletal team to ensure quality patient care and services are provided. Ensure compliance with clinic standards of quality patient care. Assist physician with treating patients as directed.</li><li>
Assist physician with completion of procedure and diagnosis coding of encounter forms.</li><li>
Review: daily schedule, new patients, follow-up, time allowed, including start and finish time for designated physician(s). Also, note time of hospital or other meetings and assist physician with clinic flow to ensure attendance at these meetings. Work with the Office Manager to coordinate schedule according to physician requirements.
</li><li>Ensure required medical records are available for appointment. If unavailable, contact the agency responsible for the records (physical therapist, laboratory, etc).</li><li>
Document all patient-related communication or treatment in EMR.</li><li>
Helps facilitate triage task and scheduled drugs via ECPS or triplicates with physician.</li><li>
Review and help facilitate physician&rsquo;s communication folder and electronic tasks daily.</li><li>
Assist the physician in reviewing no show and cancellation patients and take appropriate action.</li><li>
Maintains supplies and restocks rooms on prescribed schedule.</li><li>
Sterilizes instruments on prescribed schedule.</li><li>
Ability to function as a responsible designated tech according to guidelines established in the doctor-specific Ortho Tech manual.</li><li>
Attend continued education and skill labs as offered by Texas Orthopedics.
</li><li>Assist with Phlebotomy if certified.</li><li>
Track and complete patient FMLA forms timely.</li><li>
Work non-assigned physician clinics as scheduled.</li><li>
Assist with completion of physician responses to electronic communication to provide resolution for patient inquiries.
</li><li>Assist with obtaining prior-authorizations for diagnostic studies and viscosupplementation injections.</li><li>
Assist in answering inbound patient calls regarding clinical needs.
</li><li>Maintains strictest confidentiality.</li><li>
Travel to other locations as needed.</li><li>
All other duties as assigned.

Preferred graduation from an accredited course for Medical Assisting.</li></ul><p><b>
Experience</b>:
</p><ul><li>One year experience in a health care setting, preferably orthopedics.</li></ul><p><b>
Licensure</b>:

Special Skills</b>:</p><ul><li>
Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating with physicians, staff and outside consultants.</li><li>
Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements, including OSHA regulations.</li><li>
Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including our current EMR.</li></ul><p><b>
Physical Demands</b>:</p><ul><li>
Ability to walk frequently and stand for extended periods of time.</li><li>
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.</li><li>
Ability to assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds.</li><li>
