Direct Support Staff is responsible for providing the supports needed to promote and empower the people supported in Inclusive Living Services - Community Living, to realize their personal goals, become valued members of their communities with equal rights, and provide opportunities to make choices and construct fulfilling lives by developing mutual, authentic, and lasting connections with other people.</div><div></div><div><br>
This includes creating and fostering experiences in the community that are sustainable over time, based on the person's wants/needs/age/interests, and focuses on making choices and engaging with other people, especially peers. The Direct Support Staff ensures each person's safety and well-being, while assisting him or her in caring for and managing his or her life. This includes providing a safe living environment, supervising, and assisting people supported in managing their homes and personal needs. The Direct Support Staff must possess and display an attitude and approach that seeks to ensure every person, regardless of ability or background, can meaningfully participate in all aspects of life.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Community Living Services</b> offer full residential services focused on individualized support for adults with intellectual &amp; developmental disabilities, at 30+ single family homes, townhomes or condos owned or operated by The Arc Montgomery County. Residents have their personal, medical, and nutritional needs, met by caring staff, and are provided opportunities to participate in a variety of community activities.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Minimum Qualification:</b></div><ul><li>
High school diploma or GED equivalency or at least 18 years of age and one year of experience</li><li>
Valid US driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>
Effective verbal &amp; written communication and computer skills</li><li>
Ability to read and write fluently in English and have a good understanding of the English language</li><li>
Ability to assist people with activities of daily living, including personal care</li><li>
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with assistance</li><li>
Ability to withstand prolonged standing or walking and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing</li><li>
Must pass a 6th-grade math and reading test in English as required by the Maryland Board of Nurses.</li></ul><p></p><div><b><br>
Pay Rate: </b>$22.08 - $23.19 per hour, depending on education and experience</div><div></div><div><b><br>
