MSI is recruiting a Commercial Habitational Leader to join our growing Commercial Team. This is a senior, market-facing leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of MSI's Commercial Habitational business &mdash; including product development, revenue growth, reinsurance, underwriting, risk management, and distribution.
The Commercial Habitational Leader will define and execute MSI's go-to-market strategy for the habitational segment &mdash; spanning apartments, condominiums, mixed-use, and affordable housing &mdash; building a market-leading Commercial Habitational business with a fully integrated property and general liability product offering. This individual will serve as the face of the program to both carrier/reinsurance partners and distribution, bringing existing relationships and the vision to build a market-leading program.
<div></div>Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership &amp; P&amp;L Ownership
<ul><li>Own and lead MSI's Commercial Property and General Liability business end-to-end, with full accountability for revenue growth, P&amp;L performance, and portfolio health.
</li><li>Develop and execute MSI's go-to-market strategy for Commercial Property and General Liability, with habitational as the foundational risk class.
</li><li>Constantly monitor the Commercial Property and General Liability portfolio, ensuring risk is measured and that appropriate capacity caps and rate adjustments are enforced as stipulated in binders and contracts.
</li><li>Lead innovation by bringing unique coverages and differentiators to market that set MSI apart from competitors.
</li><li>Contribute to and align with MSI's broader marketing strategy across the Commercial Team.
</li></ul>Product Development &amp; Underwriting
<ul><li>Lead the development of MSI's nominal portfolio, including underwriting guidelines, product rules, rates, forms, and coverage enhancements across both Commercial Property and General Liability lines.
</li><li>Serve as the senior underwriting authority for habitational property and general liability risks, providing expertise on risk selection, pricing, terms, and conditions across both lines.
</li><li>Develop and refine underwriting workflows to ensure operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
</li><li>Drive continuous product innovation, including coverage enhancements, endorsement development, and appetite evolution in response to market dynamics.
</li><li>Review and approve complex, large, or non-standard submissions within designated authority levels.
</li></ul>Reinsurance &amp; Capacity
<ul><li>Lead negotiations with reinsurers and capital markets to secure capacity for MSI's Commercial Property and General Liability program.
</li><li>Develop and present a compelling reinsurance narrative that reflects portfolio quality, underwriting discipline, and growth trajectory.
</li><li>Manage and maintain reinsurance relationships, treaty terms, and capacity agreements to support sustainable program growth.
</li><li>Proactively identify and cultivate new carrier and reinsurer partnerships to support diversification and scaling of the program.
</li><li>Provide reinsurance and capacity partners with regular portfolio updates, loss analysis, and strategic reporting.
</li></ul>Distribution Development
<ul><li>Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers, retail agents, and Baldwin distribution partners &mdash; leveraging existing relationships to drive premium growth in partnership with MSI's Sales Leadership.
</li><li>Act as a primary market-facing representative for MSI's Commercial Property and General Liability program at industry conferences, trade events, and client meetings.
</li><li>Represent the program within key industry associations including WSIA (Wholesale &amp; Specialty Insurance Association) and Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA) .
</li><li>Collaborate with distribution partners on marketing strategy, appetite communication, and submission quality.
</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Cross-Functional Collaboration
<ul><li>Mentor underwriters and product managers to manage day-to-day Commercial Property and General Liability operations and build a high-performing team.
</li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and market responsiveness aligned with MSI's MGA of the Future vision.
</li><li>Lead discussions and build strong relationships with MSI's internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure seamless program execution.
</li><li>Establish underwriting workflows, service standards, and training programs to support scalability.
</li></ul><div></div>Qualifications
Required
<ul><li>Minimum 10 years of experience in Property and Casualty Insurance, with a significant concentration in Commercial Property and General Liability as a product manager/developer or lead underwriter at a Carrier, MGA, or MGU.
</li><li>Demonstrated experience building a Commercial Property and General Liability program and obtaining reinsurance or carrier capacity.
</li><li>Proven track record of managing P&amp;L, driving revenue growth, and overseeing portfolio performance.
</li><li>Deep underwriting expertise in Commercial Property and General Liability, with the ability to price and structure complex risks.
</li><li>Established carrier and/or reinsurance relationships with admitted and non-admitted markets.
</li><li>Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze loss data, develop reinsurance narratives, and present performance reporting to senior stakeholders.
</li><li>Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with a polished, market-facing presence.
</li><li>Demonstrated management experience leading underwriting and/or product teams , including hiring, mentoring, and developing direct reports in a structured team environment.
</li></ul>Preferred
<ul><li>Experience with Habitational or Real Estate classes of business (apartments, condos, mixed-use, affordable housing).
</li><li>Existing distribution relationships with wholesale brokers, retail agents, or MGA partners active in the Commercial Property and General Liability or habitational space.
</li><li>Active involvement with WSIA and/or Target Markets (TMPAA) , with familiarity in the E&amp;S and program administrator market landscape.
</li><li>General Liability product management or underwriting experience.
</li><li>Commercial Package policy experience, including the ability to structure and manage combined property and liability programs.
</li><li>Familiarity with program administration platforms, policy management systems, and data/analytics tools.
</li><li>Professional designations such as CPCU (preferred) , AU, ARM, or equivalent certifications.

Commercial Habitational Leader - MSI

<div>The Associate Claims Consultant is responsible for building relationships with clients, having the goal of client retention. They will develop stewardship plans regarding claim services and execute them. This role is a junior-level claims consultant and generally has less complex accounts and oversight from management and senior claims consultants.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Review, analyze, and determine the appropriate submission path for claims received by the company, ensuring prompt and accurate claims adjudication.
 
Provide professional assistance and support to Claims Specialists and Analyst colleagues as directed, collaborating to ensure efficient claims processing and resolution.
 
Review daily data to identify potential trends or challenges that may require managerial or underwriting review, and report findings accordingly.
 
Maintain a strong focus on delivering outstanding client service, fostering positive relationships, and effectively communicating with clients and customers throughout the claims process.
 
Ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements while handling claims, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
 
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices in claims management, continuously enhancing knowledge and expertise.
 
Contribute to process improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to streamline claim handling, increase efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
 
Handle other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Claims Consultant or management.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES:
 
Ability to drive a claim from first intake through the process to satisfactory submission with minimal supervision.
 
Proficient in MS Office Word and Excel with the ability to learn new system programs and technologies.
 
Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments.
 
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to be professional under pressure and display patience above reproach.
 
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
 
Ability to learn any other appropriate program or software system used by the firm as necessary
 
Demonstrates the organization&rsquo;s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm&rsquo;s culture
 
 
EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE:
 
3+ year's experience in claims and insurance coverage knowledge
 
Must have Property &amp; Casualty Insurance License or be willing to obtain any state required license within a specified time frame of starting employment with the firm.
